AREA

•Donohue, Gerald Roger, age 66, of Painted Post died April 22, 2010. Gerald was born in Brockport, the son of the late Owen B. and Marion A. (Bashford) Donohue. He is survived by his wife: Belva; one daughter, Yvonne Donohue of Buffalo; two sisters: Sandra Stone of Hamlin, Linda Donohue of Costa Mesa, California; one brother: Clarence (Patricia) Donohue of Greece; step son, Daniel (Beth) Saunders of Horseheads; step daughter, Cynthia (Dr. Michael) Stallard of Clark Summit, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and many nieces, nephews. Gerald was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth, Richard and Franklin Donohue.

By his wishes there will be no formal calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements entrusted to the Phillips Funeral Home Cremation Service, 17 West Pulteney Street, Corning.


BROCKPORT

•Cooper, Glenys A., On April 23, 2010, age 93. Predeceased by her husband, Jack G. Cooper and brother Bob Arthmann. She is survived by her children James R. Cooper and Donna (Dale) Hughes; grandchildren, Tammy Cooper and Timothy Cooper; step grandchildren, Vickie Hughes and Tonia DeYager; many great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held April 25 at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Private interment. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.


•Edmondson, Marion E., Age 93, on April 25, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband James and grandson Mark Edmonds. Survived by children James (Beth) Edmondson, Shirley (Chip) Edmonds, Joan Blodgett, Marianne (Arthur) McClinic; 11 grandchildren, Kim, Michael, Heather, Debbie, Rick, Tracy, Brian, Stacey, Meghan, Jessica and Vanessa; 17 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey (Earl) Woods of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews; special care giver and friend Ellie King.

Services were private and burial will be at Spring Brook Cemetery in Fair Haven. Contributions can be made to Park Ridge at Home, 2300 Buffalo Road, Suite 400 Cornerstone, Rochester, NY 14624 in her memory.


•Rittwage, Walter Glenn “Sonny”, 74, of Shelburne, VT, died on February 24, 2010 in Burlington, VT. Walter served in the Navy for four years as a quartermaster on the U.S.S. Hickox and as a signalman on the U.S.S. Diamond Head. He attended Brockport State College after being honorably discharged from the Navy. Walter worked in the real estate, insurance, and financial planning sectors for many years. He also owned the Brockport Sub Shop.

He leaves his beloved wife, Joanne; daughters Diana Labiad (Mohammed), Denise Rittwage, Jill Couture (Tom); grandchildren Hasnaa and Sarah Labiad and Larson Couture; his sister Theda Tufano (Harry); brothers-in-law George Fegan and Dick Fegan (Kathy); sister-in-law Tina Graf; Canadian cousin Roger Lobb and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Ronald James, his parents, sister Nancy Lunn, father-in-law Walter Fegan and mother-in-law Velma Snyder.

The Funeral Service was held March 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Burlington, VT. A Committal Service will be held on May 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Road, Brockport, NY. Local arrangements are by Henry D. Halloran Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 5781 West Henrietta Rd., West Henrietta, NY 14586.


•Simpson, Marion J., Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on August 18, 1915 and passed away on April 24, 2010, at age 94. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey; and brother, David. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Richard) Wagner; sons, David and Douglas Simpson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service was held April 28 at New Comer Funeral Home, Greece. Private interment, Grove Place Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Open Door Mission in her memory.


•Tolar, Marilyn Greene, age 83, of Sun City Center, Florida, died April 25, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born in Brockport on April 28, 1926 to Harry and Ruth Greene. She came to Miami, Florida at the age of 21 and remained in Florida the rest of her life. She moved to Sun City Center in 1988 after the death of her beloved husband, Pete Tolar. She was a member of Simmons Loop Baptist Church, Riverview, Florida. She is survived by an older sister, Virginian Wright of Utica; three children, Tom Tolar of Bradenton, Florida; Randee Winterbottom (Charlie) of Tallahassee, Florida and Scott Tolar (Jenny) of Cedartown, Georgia; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

•Valde, Ruth C., April 23, 2010, at age 76. Predeceased by her husbands, John F. Corbett Jr. and Milton J. Valde. She is survived by her son, Eric J. Corbett; daughter Lisa (Douglas) Cater; grandchildren, Melinda (James) Wallington, Nicholas and Matthew Cater; great-grandson, Henry James Wallington; and extended family.

HAMLIN

•Cook, Beatrice R., Suddenly, April 24, 2010 at age 82. Predeceased by her husband Lester Cook. Survived by her daughters Jocelyn (Robert) Karle, Maureen (Scott) Mattice; grandchildren Laura (William) Sheldon, Emily Mattice, Ethan Mattice, Zachary Mattice; great-grandchildren Eva Davis, Ripley Sheldon; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held May 1 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hamlin. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery.


•Munnings, Helen H. (Guck), April 25, 2010 at age 81. Predeceased by her husband, George W. Munnings and daughter, Ellen C. Kostecke. She is survived by her children William (Susan) Munnings and Carol (Richard) Guck; seven grandchildren Billy, Karen, Terri, David, Michelle, Chrissie and Joey; 20 great-grandchildren; very special niece, Heidi Beifus; along with other nieces and nephews.

•Spaker, William T., age 85, April 25, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Avery) Spaker; their children, William T. (Sevaste) Spaker Jr., David P. (Sharon) Spaker and Markus (Donna Galloway) Spaker. He also leaves six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother George Spaker. William was a USN Veteran of WWII.

HILTON

•Holden, Nikki A., age 59, of Long Island City, Queens, New York died April 25, 2010 after a 22 month illness of cancer. She was born on February 18, 1951 in Alhambra, California and grew up in Hilton. She was the daughter of Mary Irene Lofthouse and Raymond Charles Holden who preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister Lynn “Ellen” Holden of California and two brothers, Daniel Holden of California and Peter Holden of Connecticut. She graduated High School from Nazareth Academy, Rochester, in 1969 and earned a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in early and elementary education in 1973 from SUNY Fredonia. She studied Bible and graduated from Elim Bible Institute, Lima, NY in 1987. Her MS degree in education was earned in 1993 from Hunter College in Manhattan. Nikki was an elementary school teacher at Lima Baptist Christian School in Lima, NY and for the past 21 years at Evangel Christian School in Long Island City, New York.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Evangel Church 39-20 27th Street, Long Island City, NY 11101 Phone: (718) 361-5454. SPENCERPORT

•Wilshaw, Donn R., April 20, 2010. Survived by his two loving daughters, Lynne Cohen of Churchville and Karen (Mark) Maxwell of Midland, Michigan; four grandchildren, Amy and Christopher Cohen, Andrew and Adam Maxwell. Donn is also survived by his friend Tracy Smith. Donn was a teacher and administrator in the New York State School System and most recently a Professor at Nazareth College.

Graveside Services were held April 27 at Riverside Cemetery, Rochester. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
