BYRON

•Arthur, Gustavus, L., May 18, 2010 at age 87, after a lengthy battle with renal failure. Predeceased by his wives, Mary Hicks, Sheila Weinman Arthur; sister, Margaret Voelkl. He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne M. (Todd J.) Chapell, Samantha Arthur of Oregon; step-son, Alan (Charlene) Lawson of California; granddaughters, Renee C. Chapell, Mackenzie and Kiersten Lawson; brothers, Fred (Marie) Arthur of Florida, Richard Arthur of California; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Gus was a Navy Veteran of WWII (1942-1945) and a graduate of Northeastern University.

Services and interment were private. Donations can be made to Make A Wish Foundation in his memory.


CHURCHVILLE

•Walker, Brian K., On April 7, 2010. A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Buffalo Road Pavilion, (next to Riga Highway Department) from 12 to 6 p.m. Donatins can be made to Lollypop Farm in his memory.


HAMLIN

•Steinmetz, Lois, May 22, 2010, at age 85. She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Walter J. Survived by her daughter, Joan (Mike) Ayotte; son, Walter J. Steinmetz Jr.; grandchildren, Michele Nennie, Debbie Sue Knoedl, Mike (Cindy) Ayotte Jr.; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole, Amanda, Heather, Shayna, Kendra, Mike III, Myndi and Danny; three great-great grandchildren, Selina, Emiliano, and Mike IV; sisters, Lucille Frank and June Schug.

A Graveside Service was held May 26 at Lakeview Cemetery, Brockport.


HILTON

•Carr, Joseph A., May 21, 2010 at age 77. Predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Arlene E. Carr and his second wife, Julia Carr. He is survived by his children Laurence (Ruthann) Carr, Gerald (Noreen) Carr, Linda (Thomas) Kasper, Christine (Alan) Sadler and Kathleen (John) Osier; grandchildren, Patrick Carr, Amber (Christopher) Adams, Lindsay Carr, Ashley Carr, Gannon Carr, Thomas (Danielle) Kasper, Jr., Tarra (Thomas) Whipple, Sheila (Inis) Mahmutspahic, Stacy Sadler, Shelly Sadler and Nicole Osier; great-grandchildren, Ryan Adams, Nathan Kasper, Lianna Kasper, Sean Whipple, A.J. Whipple and Jason Whipple; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many dear friends. Joseph is a life member and former commissioner of the Lakeshore Fire Department. He is a Veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. Joseph is also a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company after over 33 years of service.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated May 27, 2010 at St. Mark’s Church, Rochester. Private interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hildebrandt Hospice, 2652 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester 14626 or Journey Home, 994 Long Pond Road, Rochester 14626 in his memory.


•Ferry, Leo P. “Joe,” May 19, 2010, age 86. Predeceased by his wife, Verna, 1984. Survived by his children, Joe Patrick (Lynn) Ferry, Patricia (John) Smeaton; his grandchildren, Katherine and Elizabeth Smeaton, Christine and Shannon Ferry; many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Lawrence Ferry; and his sisters Regina Harney and Rosemary Kirchner.

A Funeral Mass was said May 22 at St. Mark Church, Rochester. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.


•Ireland, Carissa M., Suddenly, May 17, 2010 at age 20. Carissa is survived by her grandmother, Anne Ireland; parents, Michael and Robin Ireland; siblings, Jennifer (Josh) Woodard, Coleen (Brian) Bernett, Michael Ireland, Jr., Kayla Ireland, Robert Ireland and Kelsey Ireland; serval other relatives and many dear friends.

Her Memorial Service was held May 27 at First Bible Baptist Church. Interment in Calvary Church Cemetery, Batavia, was held privately. Contributions can be made to the First Bible Baptist Church, 990 Manitou Road, Hilton 14468 in her memory.


HOLLEY

•Miller, Bruce P., age 73, died May 23, 2010. He was employed as a tool and die and mold maker and shop medic with the former Liberty Tool Corporation for 45 years, retiring in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Linda Miller of Holley; two sons, Vernon (Amy) Miller of Medina, Curt (Elizabeth) Miller of Warsaw; five grandchildren; sister, Judith Heberle and a nephew, Edwin Heberle, both of Chruchville.

NORTH CHILI

•Fitch, Betty Lou, (Cameron), age 80, died May 20, 2010 after a long illness. Survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Warren Fitch; children, Bruce (Debbie) Fitch and Debra (Stan) Smith; grandchildren, Angela (Todd) Pabis, Kimberly Fitch and Heather Smith; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and four siblings, Donald (Lois) Cameron, Gail Worden, Harold (Shirley) Cameron, and Vivian (Ron) Daresh. Predeceased by her mother, Lura Cameron Witz; father, George Cameron; brother-in-law, Wesley Worden; and other cherished relatives.

Funeral Services were held May 25 at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home, Chili. Interment, Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Contributions can be made to LeRoy Village Green, 10 Munson Street, LeRoy 14482 in her memory.


SPENCERPORT

•Womble, James Lester, died May 17, 2010 at two months short of 89. He is survived by Janice, his wife of over 50 years; by sons, Matthew and Robert (Rachel); by grandchildren, Travis and Paige Womble; by his sister, Dorothy Akins; by brothers-in-law, Melvin (Beverly) Marion, David (Vera) Marion and Allan (Patricia) Marion and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debra Womble, parents William and Rosa Womble and brothers John, Clarence, Andrew and Lloyd. Mr. Womble served in the Coast Guard in WWII from 1942 until 1945 in the Pacific. He moved to the Rochester area in 1960, working as business manager for a large automobile dealership until his retirement in 1987.

A Memorial Service and reception will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5 at First Baptist Church, 124 Main Street, Brockport 14420. No prior calling hours; private interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Brockport or Hospice of Rochester, 3111 South Winton Road, Rochester 14623 in his memory.
