•Fisher, Sylvia M., June 28, 2009, at age 91; mother of Richard (Marilyn) Fisher of Bergen and Patty (Edgar) Terrill of Byron; also surviving are five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

•Byrne, Mary K., Thursday, July 1, 2009. Surrounded by her loving family, just shy of her 92nd birthday. Predeceased by her husband Fredrick, sons Tim and John and daughter-in-law Sharon. Survived by her son Robert; daughters Susan (Todd) Fowler, Pattie (Dave) Streb, Meg Burdick (Kevin Jennejohn) and Beth Hannon; daughter-in-law Lisa (Jeff) Byrne-Emmerson; grandchildren Lisa (Dustin) Duff, John and Laura Fowler, Andrew (Heather) Streb, Kate and Jason Streb (Samantha Rzepka), Lauren Carlo, Hannah Burdick, Kelly, Kaitlin and Molly Hannon, Madison Byrne and Jessica Emmerson; great grandchildren Allie and Drew Duff and Ella Wallis; niece Corinne (Dave) Madden; great nieces and great nephew Shannon, Sean, Killian and Jade and many dear friends.

A Funeral Mass was said July 6 at the Church of the Nativity BVM, Brockport. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Lakeside Health System in her memory.


•Garlock, Fletcher T., Suddenly on July 5, 2009. Predeceased by his father Fletcher M. Garlock and brother Dayton Samuel M. Garlock. He is survived by his mother, Alice; brothers Charles (Beth) Garlock, Robert A. Garlock; daughters, Morgan A. (Robert) Harvey, Joanne M. Rapone; aunt, uncle and cousins.

•Matsko, Phyllis M., On July 4, 2009 at the age of 81. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Albert; children, Lawrence (Wilma), Bernard (Barbara), Ronald (Gloria), James, and Ralph (Lisa); six sisters; four brothers; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was held July 8 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hamlin. Interment at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to Visiting Nurse Services in her memory.


•Mault, Josephine M., On July 6, 2009 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her husband, Robert. She is survived by her brother-in-law Richard Mault, sister-in-law, Neva Mault; nieces and nephews Patricia (Patrick) McPhilmy, Dawn Klaver, Gail Barrett (Mike), Tamera (Steve) Zaffuto, Richard Mault Jr. (Liz), Laura (Paul) Healy, Kelly (Steve) Hall, Donald (Chris) Mault, David Mault, Gary (Anita) Mault, Diane (Mark) Hillman, Barbara (Hernon) Mundzo; many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

•Swanger, Gerald H. Jr., On July 5, 2009 at age 75. He is survived by wife, Manuela; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Carlos and Ellen Swanger; grandchildren, Alex, Benjamin, Nicholas and Samuel; cousins, Sandra (John) Carney, Katherine (Rev. Jeffrey) Haines, Michael (Elizabeth) Fields; and many other family and friends.

•Zorn, Delmer, A., On June 29, 2009, at the age of 71. Predeceased by his father Chester and brother Dale. He is survived by his children Wendy (Ernest) Haywood, Heidi Griffin, John (Margaret), and their mother Joan Zorn; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; mother Phyllis; brothers Duane (Betty), David (Bonnie), and sister Marlene Judd. Delmer was a life member of the Brockport Elks Lodge.

•Mallette, John J., July 7, 2009 at age 81. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Reish, Barbara Mallette (Douglas Lloyd), Beverly (Richard) Shaw, Christine (Robert) Hewitt; step-children, Ronald (Kimberly) Hinchey, Ann (Jonathan) Gorton, Douglas (Paula) Hinchey, Susan (Patric) O’Brien, Barbara Lee (Ronald) Polle, Linda (Don) Onderdonk; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Theresa (John) Polle, Helen Johnston, Dorothy Corona; sister-in-law, Peggy Pepper; mother-in-law, Dorothy Rose; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was an Air Force Veteran of WWII.

•Spotts, Barry A., March 4, 2009 at age 45 in Lady Lake, Florida. He is survived by his wife Eve (Attardi) Spotts; his children Geri-Anne and Chris; his parents Jerry and Hazel (Bater) Spotts; his sister, Dr. Sheri (Joe) Hamnik, MD of Virginia; father and mother-in-law Anthony and Connie Attardi of Florida; brother-in-law David Attardi of Rochester; several nieces and nephews.

•Hauck, James L., Peacefully July 7, 2009, age 88. Predeceased by his wife, Alice and his son, Roger. Survived by his son, Ronald J. Hauck; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

•Serdensky, Zeta M. (Tenbrook), age 87, June 19, 2009. Predeceased by her husband, William. She is survived by children, F. Howard (Kathy) Taylor, Kathleen (David) Amo; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

•Sherwood, Harry K., July 1, 2009. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Predeceased and now reunited with his beloved wife Janice (2006). Harry was a veteran of WWII. He will be missed by family and friends alike.

•Riley, Ruth I., June 5, 2009. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Arnold Riley. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Averil) Riley, Jeffrey (Lynda) Riley of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Alison (Jason) Parker, Kathryn and David Riley; great-granddaughter, Averil Parker; sister, Rava Glasser of South Carolina. Ruth was a flight nurse in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

•Stern, Herbert Raymond Jr., age 78, died July 6, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Joan “Dee Dee”; children Raymond (Carol) Stern, James (Mitzy) Stern, Mary Laughing Eyes, David (Beth) Stern, Ronald (Karen) Stern; son-in-law Randall Veitch; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one niece; four nephews; sister-in-law Betty Curtis.

•Hofer, Donald E., July 1, 2009, age 68. He is survived by his wife Linda; his sons, David (Judith) and Michael (Valerie) Hofer; four grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Elizabeth and Alayna; his brother, Leonard (Lucille) Hofer; two sisters, Arlene Neuert, Loraine (Dave) Corke.

•Lang, George H., Age 67, July 1, 2009, 26-year veteran of NY State Police Troop E and member of Retired Troopers Association. Predeceased by his wife Grace and brother Marvin. •Prouty, Edna F., July 1, 2009, age 78. Predeceased by sister, Dorothy Wynn. Survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur; children, Philip (Marjorie), Nathan (Kathy); six grandchildren Leanne (Erik) Bushart, Kimberly (Yale) Leupold, Maria Prouty, Joshua (Rosanna) Prouty, Justin Prouty, and Zachary Prouty; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther (John) Robson, Beryl (Virgil) Weaver, and Nellie (Charles) Mason; brother, Harry Hutt; several nieces and nephews. Edna was a longtime member of the Free Methodist Church.

•Keating, Lisa L. (Lippa), Suddenly on July 6, 2009. Lisa was a loving wife and mother. Predeceased by her brother Mark Lippa; father-in-law, James P. Keating. Survived by her husband, Daniel G. Keating; sons, Matthew J. and Lucas A. Keating; parents, Mary and Louis A. Lippa Sr.; brothers and sisters, Louis (Jackie) Lippa, Michaelle (Ronald) LaMagna, Jane (Zeke) Duda, Ralph (Olga) Lippa, Paul Lippa and Gina Lippa; mother-in-law, Patricia M. Keating; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul (Eileen) Keating, Maureen (Robert) Masten, Deirdre Keating, Michael (Lori) Keating and Mary Therese (Edward) Biltucci; special cousin, Renee Lippa; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Lisa was an employee of Time Warner and volunteer at St. John the Evangelist Church and School in Spencerport.

•Canton, John E., July 6, 2009 at age 67. He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Elzora Canton; sister, Anne DuMont and nephew, Jack Bailey. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda (Freitas); children, John L., Jeannine, Kimberly, Kevin (Kathleen) Canton; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Alyssa, Cheyenne, Kevin and Korey; aunt, Marilyn Shaffer of Dover, Pennsylvania; three nephews and a niece.

•Pedersen, John R. “Bob,” July 3, 2009, at age 82. Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 61 years, Margaret (Marge); daughters, Sharon (Michael) Specksgoor, Patricia (Richard) Merritt; son, Paul (Kristen) Pedersen; grandchildren, Kory, Matt and Nate Merritt; Gretchen and Megan Specksgoor; MacKenzie and Brennen Pedersen. Bob touched the lives of many students as a professor at SUNY Brockport, as a high school and college coach for more than 30 years. As a hockey coach he was inducted into the Monroe County Hockey Hall of Fame. Bob was influential in starting hockey programs at both McQuaid High School and SUNY Brockport College.

•Zerniak, Irene R. “Rene,” July 1, 2009. Predeceased by her parents, John and Vicki (Konieczny) Zerniak. Survived by her brothers, Ron (Betty) Zerniak, Dave (Carol) Zerniak of Florida; sister, Bonnie (Don) Grentzinger; and brother-in-law, Don Shelter; eleven nieces and nephews.
