•Hermance, Dorothy J., Peacefully on August 2, 2009, at the age of 79. Predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Lottie Jones. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Paul; children Paul Jr., Patricia (Jim) Sorel, Kathleen (Dave) Sime; grandchildren P. J. (Monica) Hermance, Beth (Shane) Cenci, Lynn Sorel, Jimmy Sorel, Katie (John) McJury, Jenna Sime; one great-grandson Braeden Hermance; brother Donald (Barb) Jones; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service was held August 6 at the First Presbyterian Church, Brockport. Interment private. Contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her memory.


•Rangel, Adán L., August 4, 2009 at the age of 76 after a short illness. Predeceased by his granddaughter Jacqueline Mandoza. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Rasario; daughters, Norma (Manuel) Parra, Connie Castaneda, Veronica Rangel, Elizabeth Rangel, and Jennifer Rangel; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Francisco Rangel and his family.

Funeral Services were held August 7 at the Fowler Funeral Home Inc., Brockport. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Brockport.


•Yantz, Helen T., Peacefully on August 4, 2009 at the age of 82. Predeceased by her husband, Jeremiah. She is survived by her children, Jayne (Larry) Liggett, Audrey (Chris) Wettach, Susie Buck, Beth (Michael) Mineti; two granddaughters, Melinda and Haley Mineti; beloved cat, Buddy Jack; sisters-in-law, Shirley Earls and Lucille Yantz.

A Funeral Mass was said August 7 at the Nativity Church B.V.M., Brockport. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Nativity Church in her memory.


•Zummo, Joseph F., On August 1, 2009. He is survived by his wife Joan (Gavenda) Zummo; his children Ellen (John) Hamlin, Catherine (Robert) D’Angelo, Francis, Marc; grandchildren Sean, Erin, Natalie, Joseph Ava Rose; his mother Martha Zummo; his sister, Karen (Vincent) Cursio; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

•Batz, Clarence F. “Darr,” July 30, 2009 at age 82. Darr was predeceased by his wife June Batz; he is survived by children, Steven (Wendy Freeman) Batz, Darlene (Randy) Fisher and Larry (Lena) Batz; grandchildren, Rachel (Alex) Wakefield, Adam, Erika Gabbi; a brother and sister.

•Brockway, Dorothy J., July 25, 2009. Predeceased by her husband, Robert. Survived by her children, Robert Brockway of Caledonia, Jeanne (Gary) Reagan of Churchville, Lisa Brockway of Churchville; sister, Helen Lynch of Illinois; brother, Oliver (Jean) Schulwitz of Rochester; grandchildren Christina, Julie, and Tammy; great-grandchildren, John Jr., Thomas, Madison, Alexis and Avery; several nieces and nephews.

•Pimm, Gregory K. “Pine,” July 30, 2009 at age 59. Greg was predeceased by his brother, Ronald R. Pimm; he is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Jo Pimm; daughters, Pamela (Timothy) Gaffney and Amanda (Jonathan) Raplee; grandchildren, Kacey, Cora, Abby, Jonathan and Jeremiah; brother, Larry D. (Anita) Pimm; sisters-in-law, Ruth Pimm and Cheryl (Curt) Lester; nieces and nephews. He was a proud volunteer with the Churchville Fire Department and honored to serve as a Lieutenant with the Fire Police.

A Memorial Service celebrating Gregory’s life was held August 8 at the First Congregational Church of Riga, Churchville. Donations can be made to the Churchville Fire Department, 24 Washington Street, Churchville, NY 14428 in his memory.


•Schur, Mary L. (Brady), July 28, 2009. Predeceased by her husband Patrick L. Schur; brother, John Brady. She is survived by sons, Patrick J. (Lorie) and Charles J. Schur; sister, Margaret Nelson (Brady); grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, Angela, Rachel and Daniel; great-grandson, Cooper; daughter-in-law, Jacquie Schur (Bergen); and many dear friends.

•Clark, Raymond W., Age 93 died July 28, 2009. He was predeceased by two sons, Bradley and Mark Clark. He is survived by his wife of 67 years M. Lucille (Smith) Clark; daughter-in-law Yolanda Clark of Florida; grandchildren Raymond (Amanda) Clark of South Carolina, Sonia Clark of Orlando, Florida, Brian Clark of Syracuse, New York, Brad Clark of Odessa, New York; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and very dear friend Debbie Mitchell.

•Armes, Frederick, August 1, 2009 age 69. Loving father of Butch (Kris Boylin) and Pam (Chip) Simmons; brother of Mary Ann (Dave) Knapp and Pat Seever; several grandchildren; nieces and nephews; devoted friend of Anita Kopff.

•Verzillo, Peter N., August 5, 2009, age 78. Survived by his wife, Tina Murray; his children, Michael and Deborah. Verzillo, Carolyn (Norm) Brockway, and Cindy (Gary) Peters; his brother, Donald (Betty) Verzillo; sisters, Mary D. (Alex) Verzillo-Carissimi and Ada Verzillo; grandchildren, Norbert and Mary Brockway, Yasmine, Amanda, Gary and Shawn Peters and Michelle Toland; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Nevaeh, and Jezire; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Peter was a Korean War Vet; Kodak retiree; Past Commander of Monroe County American Legion; current Commander of Hilton V.F.W. Post; executive director of N.Y.S. American Legion Boys State; chairman of Monroe County American Legion Boys State; member of Hilton-Parma Honor Guard; member and chairman of 40/8 Nurses Training Scholarship Program. He was chairman of District 8 V.F.W. Voice of Democracy.

A Funeral Mass was said August 8 at St. Leo Church, Hilton, followed by a Military Graveside Service, Parma Corners Cemetery.


HOLLEY

•Hughson, Esther “May,” age 95, formerly of Kendall, died August 2, 2009 at her home. She was born in Holley to Albert and Nellie Lavender and lived in Kendall for many years with her husband, the late Clark Hughson, before moving to Holley. Along with her husband Clark, she is predeceased by five brothers and a sister. She is survived by a daughter, Donna (Lee) Bowen of Holley; grandson Jason Bowen of Holley; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Cassidy, Jared; a sister, Grace (Milo) Bingaman of Albion; nieces; nephews and her two dogs.

Funeral Services were held August 5 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Albion. Interment, Greenwood Cemetery, Kendall. Contributions can be made to Hospice of Orleans, P. O. Box 489, Albion 14411 in her memory.


•Mayer, William D., Age 65, suddenly July 30, 2009. Bill was a graduate of Monroe Community College, FBI National Academy, and retired as Major from the Rochester Police Department in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol; daughters, Barb (Ed) Snyder, Debra Mayer; son Richard (Donna); grandsons, Andrew Krantz, Nicholas and Alec Mayer; sisters, Kathleen (Earl) Hinkson, Christine (Steve Watkins) Mannara; brother, Donald (Jody) Mayer; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said August 3 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association in his memory.


KENDALL

•Stothard, Maynard, died July 28, 2009 surrounded by his loving family, just shy of his ninety-first birthday. Mr. Stothard was born and raised in Red Creek, New York by his late parents, Earl and Ruth Stothard. He spent many years as a farmer and married his then wife, Dorothy Johnson. Together they raised three daughters and he took on a career with the Red Creek Central School District as a custodian and long time bus driver. He had a strong love for music and was a member of the Red Creek Legion Band for over fifty years and a member of the Wolcott Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughters, Vickie (Wayne) Younglove, of Kendall and Janet Stothard Muckey, of Fair Haven; three grandchildren, Peter (Jenna) Younglove, Kimberley (Scott) Nash, Laura (Mark) Cooper; three great-grandchildren, Aaron and Jordyn Younglove and Tyler Cooper; along with several cousins. Maynard was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy and a daughter, Jean Stothard Golcheski.

A Memorial Service was held August 8 at the Wolcott First Baptist Church, Wolcott.


SPENCERPORT

•Gartz, B. Hellen, August 1, 2009, at age 81. She was predeceased by her husband Carl F. Gartz. She is survived by her children, Bob (Wendy) Gartz, Ken (Verna) Gartz, Carol (Jim) Montgomery, Gary (Judy) Gartz, Mark (Lisa) Gartz, Carla (Bruce) Litolff, Penny (Greg) Bennett, Peggy (Steve) Bok, Tina (Roger) Bennett, and Eric (Diana) Gartz; her sister, Adaline Maysick; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held August 4 at Church of the Epiphany, Rochester. Interment was held privately. Contributions can be made to Lakeside Beikirch Care Center or Lakeside Memorial Hospital in her memory.


•Quigley, Robert V., August 2, 2009, at age 78. Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Katie Quigley; brothers, John and William Quigley; he is survived by his wife, Joan (Kibbe) Quigley; children, Patricia Quigley, Michelle (Adam) Harris and Timothy (Bridget) Quigley; grandchildren, Landry and Haley Harris, Brienne and Kian Quigley; brother, Donald (Patricia) Quigley; several nieces and nephews. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #330, Spencerport Fireman’s Exempts, and the Brockport Area Veteran’s Club. He was a Rochester Telephone Co. retiree after 39 years of service.

A Funeral Mass was said August 6 at St. John’s Church, Spencerport. Interment, St. John’s Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. John the Evangelist Church of Spencerport or the Aurora House, P. O. Box 21, Spencerport 14559 in his memory.
