BROCKPORT

•O’Dell, James L., of Huron Park, Canada. On August 13, 2009, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Beverely O’Dell. Predeceased by his first wife Sybil Bruce O’Dell and his sister Janet Klafehn (Robert). Survived by his children Dan O’Dell (Linda) and daughter Pat Duncan (Al); sister Kathleen Allen (Chris) and brother Pete O’Dell (Kathryn). Also survived by his stepchildren Teresa Heynen, Scott Young and David Young; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.

Private services were held.


•Sorce, Emma A., On August 22, 2009, at the age of 93. Predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her brother Sebastian (Beverly); sisters, Martha and Jenny; sister-in-law Dorothy Sorce; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was said August 27 at Nativity Church of the BVM, Brockport. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Lifetime Care Hospice or the Sweden Senior Center in her memory.


CHURCHVILLE

•Culhane, Sheila R., Died August 26, 2009 at age 81. Predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” P. Culhane, Sr., and son, Brian C. Culhane. Survived by her children, John P. Culhane, Jr., Elaine Culhane, Susan Zammito, Patricia Culhane, Meg (Kenneth) Nielsen, Catherine (Charles) Dickinson, and Elizabeth (Paul) Slater; grandchildren, Erin, Rachel, Bridget, Brian, David, Colleen, Dan, Patrick, Nora, Tim, Maureen, David, Matthew, Danny, Charles David, Liz, Sheila, James, John, Thomas and Katie Marie; 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Katie Culhane. Sheila was very active at St. Christopher’s Church, as a daily communicant, Eucharistic minister, and lector. She also enjoyed volunteering at various hospitals. Sheila taught special education and art, and loved working with children.

A Funeral Mass was said August 29 at St. Christopher’s Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations can be made to the St. Christopher’s Building Fund, 3350 Union Street, P.O. Box 399, North Chili, NY 14514 in her memory.


CLARKSON

•Barnhart, Edward, August 20, 2009. Survived by siblings, Bonnie O’Neill, Lucille Nogel, Sandy Lockamy, Gary, Gerald; nephews, nieces, special friend Deb Poprawski and his “Clarkson family.”

GREECE

•Kirkland, John W., Col. USMC (Ret), age 85, August 25, 2009 at home. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Lee (Arnest) Kirkland; their children, Mark (Debbie) Kirkland, Scott (Anne) Kirkland; grandchildren, Melissa, Raechel, Tyler, Kaylynne, John and Krystal. Predeceased by son, Kevin, 2008. John was a 31 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

Funeral Services were held August 28 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Interment, Parma Union Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.


HOLLEY

•Engert, Sandra Jean, age 65, died August 23, 2009 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a member of VFW Post 202 Ladies Auxiliary, and the American Legion Jewell Buckman Post 529 of Holley. Predeceased by her husband Walter “Buzz” Engert Sr. She is survived by 14 children, Jay (Petra) Engert Jr. of Holley, Mike (Suzette) Engert of Spencerport, Doug (Roxanne) Engert of Rochester, Ann (Rob) Deskins of Albion, Charles (Ramona) Keitel Jr. of Colorado, Lori (Scott) Caskey of Maryland, Diana Cranston of Albion, Cherie (Jonathan) Black of Brockport, Mary (Russell Sr.) Tirpak of New Jersey, Mari Lou Engert of Florida, Susie (Jim Sr.) Devault of Holley, Lucy (Chris) Engert Chambry of Bergen, Benjamin (Nicole) Cranston of Florida, Terrance (Meagen) Cranston of Batvaia; 36 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Babcock of Rochester, Janice (Pat) Marconi of Arizona, Bonnie (Bill) Louk of Alabama; brother, Robert “Bucky” (Dori) Lace of Arkansas; “adopted daughter” Debbie Rothman of Holley; first husband, Charles Keitel Sr.; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held August 27 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Holley. Burial in Sandy Creek Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Holley Community Center in her memory.


•Weldon, Sandra J. on August 25, 2009 at the age of 65. Predeceased by her husband Bernard. She is survived by her sons Timothy (Lori), Paul (Cheryl), James (Garalee) and Bernard Jr. (Floyd Austin); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Paulette (Sidney) Swanger; step father Richard Bennett; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held August 28 at the Fowler Funeral Home Inc., Brockport. Interment, Lake View Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Lakeside Health System or the American Heart or Lung Associations in her memory.


SPENCERPORT

•Edwards, Elizabeth A., August 24, 2009 at age 64. Predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Grace Fischer. She is survived by her husband, William E. Edwards III; sons, Michael Kondorf, Peter (Chellie) Kondorf and Douglas (Kathy) Kondorf; step-sons, William (Jennifer) Edwards IV and Mark (Olga) Edwards; sisters, Mary Ellen (Leslie) Manning and Catherine (Henry) Molise; father-in-law, William W. (Jean) Edwards; brother-in-law, Stephen (Mary) Edwards; nieces and nephews, Mary Beth (Glenn) Wilbur, Mark (Lori) Manning, Thomas (Julie) Manning, Michelle Molise and Matthew Molise.

A Memorial Service was held August 29 at New Comer Funeral Home, Greece. Contributions can be made to The Journey Home, 994 Long Pond Road, Rochester 14626 in her memory.


•Fudge, Susan Hobart, Died in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 19, 2009. Sue was a retired teacher who recently moved to Las Vegas. She is survived by her son Brian, his wife Sandy and their son Ethan of Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughter Mary of Portland, Maine and her beloved dog, Molly.

Services were held at Desert Memorial in Las Vegas on August 26, 2009. Interment, White Haven Memorial Cemetery, Pittsford.
