•Cenci, Mildred E., On September 6, 2010 at age 86. Predeceased by her husband, Nicholas J. Cenci and son Richard Cenci. Survived by her son James (LuAnne) Cenci; her daughter Carole Ann (Mark) Wrubleski; sisters Fay Cox and Martha Penka of North Carolina; and brothers Edgar (Diane) Owen and Nicholas (Debbie) Owen of California; grandchildren Leesha (Bill) Emler, Shane (Beth) Cenci, Justin Cenci and Lauren Wrubleski; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Madison and Ryan Emler and Abriana Cenci; several nieces and nephews.

Private interment.


•Herrmann, John E., Formerly of West Seneca, NY, September 10, 2010. Beloved husband of the late LaVella (nee Schelesky); father of Janice (Gary) Emerling and Martin (Jane) Herrmann; grandfather of Jessica (Robert) Crow, Alexis Emerling, Bridget, Patrick (Michele) and Shawn Herrmann; great-grandfather of Frankie, Callum and Jesse; brother of Joseph and the late Irene Herrmann. Mr. Herrmann was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Private funeral services were held. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.


•Sweeting, Helen W., On September 9, 2010 at the age of 93 at Lakeside Beikirch Care Center. She was the daughter of Frank and Edith Wilson. Helen is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Sweeting (Shelby, North Carolina) and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Richard W. Sweeting and her sister Belva (Clyde) Browne. Helen was a life member of Western Monroe Historical Society and member of Brockport United Methodist Church for many years. She was active in the Lakeside Twig Association and Methodist Wesley Circle.

A Memorial Service was held September 14 at Brockport United Methodist Church. Interment will be private. Donations can be made to the Brockport United Methodist Church, 92 Main Street, Brockport or Lakeside Beikirch Care Center, 170 West Avenue, Brockport in her memory.


•Thompson, Dr. Robert Poole, died peacefully at home, surrounded in love by his family. Predeceased by his first wife, Sylvia and his second wife, Zee, he is survived by his sister, Patricia and his children Timothy, Martha, Paul, Mary and Katie and their families. A Professor Emeritus of Biology at The College of Brockport (1967-1988) he demonstrated a continuous curiosity about learning. A Canadian veteran of the Second World War and the Korean War, Bob devoted many years to further the cause of peace and justice. A long-standing member of the Brockport Newman Oratory, he created opportunities for students to nurture their spiritual development.

A Memorial Service will held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 2 at the Newman Oratory, 101 Kenyon Street, Brockport, with reception following at 2:30 at Newman. Contributions can be made to the Newman Oratory, specifying the “Fully Alive” Prison Ministry in Dr. Thompson’s memory.


CHILI

•Goodwin, Florence G., September 8, 2010. Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, George; three children, Paul, Clare and Loretta Goodwin; granddaughter, Sara (Culhane) Constantine and husband Alexander; brother, John (Marlene) McAlevey; sister, Sr. Mary Janetta McAlevey O. P.; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Florence was a retiree of RIT, a member of Chili Lions and VFW Post 412 Ladies Auxiliary.

CLARENDON

•Ashbery, Donald A., age 87, September 13, 2010. Predeceased by his wife Betty; brothers, Tom and Jimmy. Survived by his children, William (Diana), Joyce (Kevin) Foley, Elizebeth (Duane) Priset, Leigh Anne (Charles) Kinsey, Thomas (Cherrie), Sheila Monacelli, and Susan (Ron) Rowcliffe; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; siblings, David (Marilyn), Richard (Amy), Alice (James) Richardson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held September 16 at the Brockport United Methodist Church. Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Holley. Contributions can be made to Calvary Chapel at Westside, Spencerport, or the American Cancer Society in his memory.


HILTON

•Barton, James E., Suddenly, September 14, 2010, age 51. Predeceased by his mother, Mary Barton, 1999. Survived by his father, James G. Barton; his daughters, Nicole Barton, Ashley (Zachary) Thompson and Kathryn Barton; his sisters, Sherry Rock and Lisa (Mark) Casilio; grandchildren, Hailey, Mackenzey, Jordann, Caylibe-James and Trystanne; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral Services were held September 18 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Interment, Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hamlin VFW Post in his memory.


KENDALL

•Curtis, Clark Nathaneil, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, formerly from Kendall, died September 11, 2010 at the age of 34 after a battle with cancer. Clark is survived by his wife Melissa (Law) Curtis; children Hunter, MaKayla and Christian; parents Linda Curtis of Hamlin and Neil (Ellie) Curtis of Brockport; sister Michelle Curtis (Merrell) of Holley; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Clark was a retired Tech Sergeant from the USAF and a highly respected employee of Raytheon at the Patuxant US Naval Base in Maryland. His love and joy aside from his family was his passion and pride for the US Military.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Sunday, September 26, 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Route 19, Hamlin. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery at a later date. Contributions can be made to the Clark Curtis Memorial Scholarship Fund, Kendall Central School, 1932 Kendall Road, Kendall, NY 14476 in his memory.


KENT

•Adolph, Barbara A. (Steffen), September 9, 2010, age 54. Survived by her daughters, Kristina and Katie Adolph; stepdaughter, Tracy Adolph-Kilmow; fiance, David Fischer; her parents, Walter and Dolly Steffen; four brothers; four sisters; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Predeceased by her son Jake Adolph and husband Doug Adolph.

Funeral Services were held September 13 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Kendall. Interment Greenwood Cemetery.


OGDEN

•Waldow, Mark G., Died September 9, 2010 at the age of 49 after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Predeceased by father, Stephen R. Waldow, step-father, Brian Dowd and mother-in-law, Geraldine Serwon. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jeannine (Serwon); daughters, Nicole, Melanie and Jennifer; mother, Patricia W. Dowd; brother, Stephen (Kathy) Waldow; sister, Karen (Bret) Marlin; grandmother, Helen Mengual; father-in-law, Edward Serwon; brothers and sisters-in-law; two step-sisters and step-brother; nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Mark was an IBM employee for 28 years.

SPENCERPORT

•Durst, Aileen “Gayle” (Simpson), September 12, 2010 at age 76. Predeceased by her daughter, Donna Presley; father, Thomas Simpson; and brother, Richard Simpson. She is survived by her mother, Mary Simpson; loving children, Mark (Dawn) Miller, Bryan (Carolyn) Miller, Karen Miller and Sherry Scorse; grandchildren, Brittany and Marshal Miller, Bryan (Jennifer) Miller and Travis Miller, Waylon, Whitney and Lindsay Presley; great-granddaughters, Kristina Presley and Isabella Miller; three brothers; three sisters; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held September 15 at the New Comer Funeral Home, Greece. Interment, Fairfield Cemetery, Spencerport.


•Farr, Frederick G., September 10, 2010 at age 88. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Farnsworth; nephews, Robert, James (Diane), Jeffery (Donna) Farnsworth.

A Graveside Service was held September 17 at Fairfield Cemetery, Spencerport.


•Smith, Mary Rene, Peacefully on September 14, 2010 at age 93. She was predeceased by her parents, Anna Marie and J. Walter Smith; her beloved twin, sister Rita; brothers, Michael, Sidney and Theodore; niece, Lisa Boher, nephew, Howard Smith; brothers-in-law, Martin Boher and Leo Haag. Rene is survived by her sister, Patricia Smith Haag; many nieces and nephews, Catherine (Peter) White, Monica (Robert) Anderson, Thersa Haag-Olson, Virginia (Paul) Donlon, Christopher (Lucinda) Haag, Elizabeth M. Haag, Lorra Boher, Lynne (Al) Wall, Patricia Ann Murphy (Ned) Harkness, Mary Michelle (Robert) Lincoln, Dale (June) Smith, Duane (Sue) Smith. Rene was born on October 6, 1916. She resided in Spencerport for most of her life where she taught elementary, junior and senior high school English for 37 years. She was a graduate of SUNY Buffalo and taught initially in Friendship, NY. She was a pillar of St. John the Evangelist parish in Spencerport, a longtime volunteer for the LPGA, St. Mary’s and Unity hospitals. She was an usher at the Eastman Theatre for more than 50 years.
