AREA

•Eppenstein, Alfred Jr., on October 16, 2009 in Tampa Florida at age 77. Predeceased by parents Martha and Alfred Eppenstein Sr., wives Peggy (Balogh) and Kitty (Manteleone). Survived by daughters Kathy (Robert Wiley) and Linda (Todd Walden); grandchildren Jason and Michael Wiley, Halie and Madison Walden, all living in Florida; and sister Evelyn Krekic, from Hamlin, as well as nieces and a nephew. Al was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Eastern Airlines as a Captain.


BROCKPORT

•Cornish, Claude S. Jr. “Sam”, on October 19, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of 50 years; his children, Scott (Lori), Jeanne (Ray) Fradella; three granddaughters, Lyssa, Ashley, and Emily; brother Edward (Sally); sister, Joanne (Clare) Wallace, Rosalie Frank and sister-in-law, Mary Cornish. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald. Mr. Cornish was a professor at SUNY Brockport for 30 years.

A Memorial Service will be held October 25 at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, corner of Erie and Main Street, Brockport. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Brockport United Methodist Church in his memory.


•Schafer, Helen C., on October 18, 2009, at the age of 85. She is predeceased by her husband Donald, son Michael and sister Mary Jane. She is survived by her son Mark; daughter Connie (David) Laliberte; daughter-in-law Tracey; grandchildren David and Jennifer Schafer and Sam Laliberte.

A Funeral Mass was said October 22 at St. Ann Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hamlin. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Lakeside Health System, Lifetime Care Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.


HILTON

•Bockus, Floyd W., age 78, October 16, 2009. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; children, Susan (Bockus) Mead, Timothy (Allison) Bockus, Donna (Robert) Smalley, Nancy (Chris) Burritt; grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua Mead, Kyle and Ryan Bockus, Jennifer Thiel, Dennis and Tiara Smalley, and Emily Burritt; great-grandson, Max DeVos; several nieces, nephews and friends. Floyd was an Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict, a long time member of the Hilton Fire Department and Exempt Club and Hilton Baptist Church.

A Memorial Service was held October 20 at Hilton Baptist Church. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to the Hilton Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to Hilton Fire Department in his memory.


•Drayton, Gregory M., age 47, October 12, 2009. Survived by his wife, Lorie; daughters, Amanda, and MaryJayne; parents, Kenneth R. and Mary Lou Drayton; brothers, Kenneth B. Drayton and Robert S. Drayton. Predeceased by his sister, Wanda.

Interment, Bethlehem Cemetery, Georgia. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.


•Miles, Homer O., October 18, 2009 at age 81. Predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Mabel Miles, brother, Charles Miles. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elinor (Bode) Miles; sons, Mark (Sherry) Miles and Greg (Debbie) Miles of Ohio; grandchildren, Abigail, Ashley, Jennifer and Steven; sister-in-law, Wava Miles; brothers-in-law, Frederick “Bill” (Janet) Bode of Arizona, Clarence Allan (Ernestine) Bode of Massachusetts, and John N. (Bernice) Bode of Ohio; nieces, nephews and many friends. Homer was a member of the American Legion, Korean Army veteran and a retiree of Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company.

A Memorial Service was held October 24 at the New Comer Funeral Home, Greece. Private interment. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.


•Mostyn, Virginia Ruth, age 88, October 19, 2009. Predeceased by her husband Edward. She is survived by her children Vivian Lureman, John (Lynn) Mostyn; grandchildren Jayne (Paul) Cassick, Diane (Charles) Lamos, Heather (Ken) Schubert, Kristine Mostyn, Valerie Mostyn; great grandchildren Jacob, Matthew, Carly, Jake, Madison, Hailey, Kyle; nephew Larry (Kay) Britt and niece, Jayne (Larry) Kilmer. Virginia was a 70 year member and Past President of the Rebekah Lodge of New York, a life member of the Girl Scouts of America and former board member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah HCF, Lockport, NY.

Funeral Services were held October 23 at St. George Episcopal Church, Hilton. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to the John Sable Heart Fund, 22 Boxwood Lane, Fairport 14450 or to St. George Episcopal Church, 635 Wilder Road, Hilton 14468 in her memory.


•Taber, Doris, October 16, 2009, age 100. Predeceased by her husband, Harold W. in 1988, her son, Philip R. in 2002. Survived by her daughters, Nancy L. Taber, Barbara (Jack) Wilson; sons, Neil F., Robert, Gary (Sherry), Charles (Tonya) Taber; eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her sister, Lorna Hoffman of Michigan and sister-in-law, Tillie Fairbanks.

A Memorial Service was held October 19 at Hilton Baptist Church. Interment, Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hilton Baptist Church Memorial Fund or Hilton Ambulance Corps in her memory.


•Voorheis, Wanda R., October 16, 2009, at age 86. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Ralph “Duck” D. Voorheis; her children, Stephanie M. Voorheis, Donald (Donna Ainsworth) Voorheis and Craig A. Voorheis; grandchildren, Delaney and Deagan Voorheis; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated October 19 at St. Lawrence Church, Greece. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery. Contributions can be made to one’s community library in her memory.

•Pettis, Gerald A., October 19, 2009 at age 80. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan; son, Denis. He is survived by his children, Michael A. Pettis, Michele Fabris, Melanie (Robert) Pettis-Frey and Melissa Short; daughter-in-law Judy Pettis; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; dear friends, Beverley Bashaw and Matt Short; many friends and relatives.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated October 24 at St. Christopher’s Church, North Chili. Interment, Fairfield Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association Rochester Chapter, 595 Blossom Road, Rochester 14610 in his memory.
