AREA

•Schwartz, Marjorie J., age 74 of Elizabeth City, North Carolina died November 17, 2009 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. Schwartz, a native of Brockport, was the daughter of Cora Gowin Phillips of Bath and the late George Wilbur McDermott and was the wife of Charles R. Schwartz of the residence. She was the first woman commander of an American Legion Post the Harvey C. Noone Post 954 in Churchville and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 954. Besides her mother and husband she is survived by two daughters, Lark Anne Zinter and husband Robert of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Kerry Lee Williams and husband Richard of Brockport; three sons, Jeffrey M. Schwartz of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Mark George Schwartz and his wife Julie of Chili, and Scott Richard Schwartz and wife Colleen of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; step-daughter, Patty Schwartz of Beckley, West Virginia; step-son Charles R. Schwartz, Jr. of Milano, Italy; and nine grandchildren.

BERGEN

•Foltman, Dorothy R., November 18, 2009 at age 94. She is survived by her children Judydel Hinkson, G. Sharon Wood of Floyd, Virginia and Bradley T. (Rita) Foltman of Boise, Idaho; her grandchildren, Guy Hinkson, Eilene (David) Mason, Joel B. Wood, D. Andrew (Katie) Wood, Laura (Kenneth) Slough and Sarah Foltman; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a member of NYS Teachers Association for over 75 years.

A Memorial Service was held November 25 at Churchville United Methodist Church, Churchville. Interment will be held privately. Contributions can be made to Tara Hall Home for Boys, 510 Tara Hall Road, Georgetown, South Carolina 29440 in her memory.


CHURCHVILLE

•Thellman, Dr. Elaine Varley, age 65, of Greenwood, Arkansas, formerly of Churchville, died November 21, 2009 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was born December 2, 1943. Dr. Thellman graduated from Houghton College in New York as a registered nurse, received her bachelors degree in nursing from Columbia University in New York, her masters degree from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio and earned her doctorate from the University of Arkansas. Dr Thellman was active in the fiber arts, including embroidery, weaving, spinning and scrapbooking, a former race official for the United States Cycling Federation and President of the Fort Smith AKC Kennel Club. In addition she showed, bred and raised championship beagles. Dr. Thellman is survived by her husband, John; daughter Corinne Thellman; son Dr. Shane Thellman; daughter-in-law Dr. Nikki Thellman; one grandchild, Clayton Alexander Thellman; two sisters, Deanna Pattison and Wilna Varley; one brother-in-law Douglas Pattison; one brother Darryll Varley and one sister-in-law Janet Varley; one niece Renee Abbott and two nephews Lloyd Varley and Todd Varley.

Funeral Services were held November 25. Contributions can be made to the Lymphoma Foundation or to the American Cancer Society in her memory.


HILTON

•Speer, Pamela J. (VanLare), Age 59, after a courageous battle with cancer on November 18, 2009. She is predeceased by her father Jack VanLare and father-in-law, Kermit Speer. She is survived by her mother Nina VanLare; her husband of 40 years, Stephen Speer; their children Amy (John) Grande, Gregory (Tina) Speer; brother Erik VanLare; grandchildren David and Lucus Speer, Ryan and Jason Grande, Renea and Elise Jett, AJ Engelbert; mother-in-law, Peggy Speer and dear friend Janet Spring. Pam was a past member of both the North Greece and Hilton Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Steven Ministry and a volunteer at Mt. Carmel House.

NORTH CHILI

•Sittig, William K. “Bill,” November 21, 2009, at age 90. Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Ester (Cleary); brother, Frederick; daughter, Penny (Grimm). He is survived by wife, Ruth (McIntyre); sons, John (Tracy) and Robert (Diana); five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild. Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a member of the combat engineers. He retired as controller of the Rochester Episcopal Diocese. He was a trustee emeritus of Roberts Wesleyan College.

A Memorial Service was held November 24 at Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church, North Chili. SPENCERPORT

•Maas, Edward J., November 18, 2009 at age 83. Predeceased by his brother, Raymond and sister, Ruth McNeil. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Marion; daughters, Doreen (Mike) German, Deborah Maas, Johanna Stevens, Ruth (David) Reed; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Pfromm and several nieces and nephews. Edward was actively involved in Good News Jail and Prison Ministry for 30 years, was involved with the Grace Baptist Church including the Senior Saints and was an avid golfer.

A Memorial Service was held November 22 at Grace Baptist Church, Brockport. Contributions can be made to American Parkinson Disease, 135 Parkinson Avenue/Parkinson Plaza, Staton Island, NY 10305-1425 in his memory.
