Newsmakers for the week of

Aaron Faro, a 1999 Churchville-Chili graduate, was a starting defender for the Messiah College (22-2-1) men's soccer team. On November 25, the team won the school's first NCAA Division III National Championship in Men's Soccer with a 2-0 win over host Rowan College (NJ). In the semi-finals, Faro carried the ball along the opposition's goal line and found teammate Hayden Woodworth for the game-winning goal over Linfield (OR), 3-2. Faro converted a penalty kick just two minutes earlier to tie the game in the second half.

Faro was an All-MAC selection his freshman year and started all 25 games this season as a central midfielder and defender. At Churchville, he was an All-County soccer player and swimmer for the Saints. He is the son of Mike and Beverly Faro of North Chili.


Junior Alyson Reising, of Spencerport, and freshman Lindsay Ardella, of Kendall, were members of the 2000 St. Bonaventure women's soccer team. Reising, a co-captain, scored her first collegiate goal against St. Joseph's on October 27. The goal turned out to be the game winner as Bona topped the Hawks 2-0. Ardella started all 19 games at midfield and recorded her lone assist in the Northern Iowa game.


Judy Lockwood, Associate/Broker, has rejoined Prudential Discover Real Estate, 162 South Union Street, Spencerport. Lockwood has 19 years experience in the real estate field. She is a life-long resident of Spencerport.


Army National Guard Pfc. Stephen P. Weiler has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During the training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions. He is the son of Irasema De La Torrekash of Rochester and Wayne Weiler of North Chili. Weiler is a 2000 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School.


Army National Guard Pfc. Kyle J. Boksa has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During the training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions. He is the son of Allen S. and Joyce M. Boksa of North Chili and a 2000 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School.
