The Terry Taylor Elementary School recently held its second Horizon Fun Skate. DARE Officer Brown showed up in his hockey gear to skate with the students, teachers, parents, families, and friends.

Students in Mrs. Filardo's third grade class at Holley Elementary School count lids from Yoplait yogurt containers. For every lid submitted, Yoplait donates 10 cents to Breast Cancer Research. Teachers in the entire school encouraged students to participate in this project, and some students got a chance to practice their math skills by bundling the labels and counting by 10s. Hilton Village Playground Walkway - Hilton's Village Elementary School parents and community members coordinated by the school's Village Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (VEPTO) raised more than $40,000 to build a playground on the school grounds. Part of the fundraising was a sale of engraved bricks for a walkway commemorating the donors. Last fall, parents installed the bricks, from left, Brenda Herman, Jennifer Schuler, Paul Neefe and Joseph Rauber. Village School Principal Daniel Talany remarked, "Our brick walkway is in the form of a patio at the entrance to our school playground. Each brick has the name of the contributor engraved on it. Our entire student body, staff and community thank the parents who installed the walkway."
Hilton High School's "natural helpers" - Hilton High School students were recently selected to be part of the Natural Helpers Club, an organization of students identified by their peers as "caring and trustworthy," according to club advisor Nancy Lewthwaite, Park Ridge Youth Outreach Counselor at the High School. The students participated in a training conference last month at Camp Asbury Retreat Center in Silver Lake where they learned how to strengthen their helping skills and how to recognize when a classmate is have a problem and what to do. Natural Helpers are: Sarah Balschmiter, Katie Beckler, Patricia Carpenter, Ryan Church, Lucin Colakoglu, Chelsea Corcoran, Andrew Dill, Jessica Gaspar, Nick Hardie, Kristy Kalvestron, Gareth Leonard, Jessica Millspaugh, Jason Mincer, Robin Moore, Becky Ophardt, Brandon Previte, Renee Ronco, Sarah Rondo, Allison Stanton, Jessica Wagner. Advisors are Ms. Lewthwaite, Theresa Jasen, Tait Loe and Shirley Abrams.
