Allied proposes freezer building expansion

The Brockport Planning Board will hold a Public Hearing on January 8 at 7:45 p.m. to gather comments about Allied Builders' proposal to expand its existing freezer building at 250 State Street.

Plans call for a 90,720 square feet addition to the east and south sides of the building. Plans include the razing of two residences located on Allied's property. The addition will be single story and will require the installation of one new compressor.

According to Village Building Inspector Bill Weber, Allied is considering constructing a road from Owens Road to the rear of the building. Those plans would have to have Town of Sweden approval. Traffic is expected to increase by about 10-20 trucks a day by Agrilink, which is Allied's main tenant in the building.

Weber said Allied would like to start construction in the spring and have the new part of the building in operation by September. The increased freezer space will likely mean the addition of just a few jobs, but Weber said it will also benefit the village's shrinking tax base.
