Emily Ugino, daughter of Richard and Joan Ugino of Hilton, has been awarded an Empire State Scholarship from Saint Michael's College for the 2000-2001 academic year. Ugino is a junior political science major at the college, located in the Burlington area of Vermont. She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School.


Melissa L. (Johnston) Yost graduated summa cum laude from Boston College in May, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She is currently employed as a social worker for the State of Massachusetts Department of Social Services. The 1996 Churchville-Chili graduate was married on August 7, 1999 to Jonathan C. Yost, Churchville-Chili class of 1993. Yost received an electrical engineering degree from Boston University in 1998 and works as a software engineer for a Boston-based internet company.

The couple resides in Groton, Massachusetts.


Participants at the 23rd Annual Ohio Star Ball Championships in Columbus, Ohio included 241 professionals and 336 amateurs with partners, among whom were North Chili's Edward and Vonda Woodfield, who did all of the smooth dances, namely, foxtrot, waltz, tango, quick step and Viennese waltz.

Seven students from the two Rochester Arthur Murray studios were there to cheer them on. From Hamlin was Carolyn Streb and her instructor, John Smalle of Coldwater.


Dawn S. McWilliams has been named director of marketing at the University of Rochester's William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration.

McWilliams' primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing the School's strategic marketing plans in close coordination with key program managers.

McWilliams, who has an M.B.A. in marketing, was previously associate director of public affairs and director of publications for the Simon School, where she managed all aspects of collateral communication production during the past 12 years, including key initiatives such as B-school surveys, Web development, advertising and the creation of marketing publications.

McWilliams resides in Churchville with her husband and two children.


Army Pvt. Andrew W. Buisch has graduated from basic military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma. Buisch is the son of Sheryl A. O'Niell of Clifton Springs, and Wesley L. Buisch of Bergen. The private is a 1998 graduate of Midlakes High School, Phelps.
