Concordia Lutheran to welcome interim pastor

Concordia Lutheran Church invites the community to the installation service of Vicar Roger Kimmel as Interim Pastor of the congregation on Sunday, January 14, at 4 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 6601 Fourth Section Road, Brockport. The service will be conducted by Rev. Albert Zoller, Pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hilton, and Vice-President of the Eastern District Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The Senior Bell Choir of St. Paul's will perform. A fellowship hour will be held following the service for everyone to greet Vicar Kimmel.

Kimmel has lived in the Brockport area all of his life. He graduated from Hilton High School, and has attended RIT, MCC and SUNY Brockport. He worked at Kodak until 1998 and was instrumental in installing digital imaging systems in theme parks, including Disney World and Disneyland. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned military honors as a helicopter pilot. He has participated in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hilton, in many areas including Elders, Lay Ministry, and Education. Recently he has worked as Promotions Director for the Lutheran Church Extension Fund in the Eastern District.

In 1996 he started classes with the Distance Education Leading to Ordination (DELTO) program from Concordia Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and expects to be ordained in 2002.

Vicar Kimmel is married to Sharon (Kelly) Kimmel, a kindergarten teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Hilton. They have three children. Heidi lives in Las Vegas, Andrew is a senior at SUNY Brockport and Katie attends Indiana University.
