It was an inter-generational day for children from Lakeside's Child Care Center as they spent part of a recent morning with Lakeside Beikirch Care Center (LBCC) residents. The residents worked with the children and their teachers to make Native American drums as part of the new activity program designed to give the children a chance to interact with the residents of the Care Center.

The weekly inter-generational programs are structured so that both age groups benefit from the interaction, LBCC Activities Director Mickey Rodak said.

"Our residents were mentors to the toddlers," Rodak said. "They work together, becoming partners."

Another program sponsored as part of the activities included providing education on good dental health. Shelly Eldridge, a dental hygienist from Dr. Clasquin's office, recently presented a program that featured techniques for good dental hygiene and check-ups for everyone.

The program was initiated by Nicki Struble, Education Coordinator at LCC and Rodak as a way for the seniors and the children to interact.
