Spencerport's fourth annual Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball Tournament, organized by varsity basketball coach Mike Blackwell, raised $7,500 for the American Cancer Society. That is a 25 percent increase over last year's total of $6,000. The tournament was held at Nazareth College December 27 and 28.

In addition to tournament proceeds, Spencerport players solicited pledges for each point scored by the team. Spencerport scored a total of 99 points in the two games the team played. The other participants in this year's tournament were Lockport High School, Fairport High School and Palmyra-Macedon High School. In the four years the tournament has been played, more than $15,000 has been raised.

The check for this year's donation will be presented to the American Cancer Society at Spencerport's home game with Arcadia on Friday, February 2 at approximately 8 p.m.
