Allied freezer project receives planning board approval

A 90,720 square feet addition to the Allied Frozen Food facility located at 250 State Street, Brockport, has received approval from the village planning board. The approval is contingent on the design meeting comments from the Monroe County Planning Board and the Town of Sweden regarding curb cuts to Owens Road.

Plans also include the construction of two detention ponds and an eight-bay truck dock. All truck traffic will enter the complex from Owens Road and will exit onto State Street heading back east to Owens Road, avoiding village streets. Two residences located on the property will be demolished.

At a January public hearing on the proposed expansion, residents raised concerns about the noise emanating from condensers on Allied’s neighboring frozen food warehouse. Not only did the residents want to be sure the new project would not increase the noise, they requested that Allied take steps to abate current noise levels. Allied provided the Brockport Planning Board with a letter of intent to erect some type of sound barrier this summer to help alleviate the condenser noise.
