Brockport battles West Avenue fire

Brockport firefighters, with assistance from Holley and Hamlin firefighters, battled a house fire at 481 West Avenue on January 30.

The fire apparently started in an upstairs rear bedroom. When the fire department arrived at about 10:30 p.m., the fire had already broken through a rear window and was engulfing the attic. Investigators believe that the blaze that heavily damaged the two-story home was accidental in nature.

Three family members in the home at the time - Raymond Ehnot, his wife and the couple's teenage son - escaped without injury. Several family pets were saved, although at least one cat perished in the fire. No firefighters were injured.
