Saints gain first hockey shutout

The Churchville-Chili Saints received goals from Joe Ramirez and Lyndsay Wall and rode the 16-save goaltending of Dan Ramirez to the first shutout in the team's four-year history in a 2-0 victory over Bishop Kearney January 25 at the ESL SportsCentre.

Joe Ramirez scored off a scramble in front of the net just 2:20 into the game and Wall scored her first high school goal on a slapshot from the point. It came at the 3:38 mark of the second period on the power play with an assist to Joe Jackson and that was all the Saints would need.

Dan Ramirez made six saves in the first period and five in each of the last two to gain the shutout. Head Coach Jim Jackson was happy for the team, "it was a long time coming and we were sloppy in spots, but I'm happy for the seniors."

Seniors Dan Thomas, Alex Lupiani, Jeff Bruckman, Ryan Perry and Joe Jackson posed with their parents on the ice for pictures before the game on senior night. The Saints will play Penfield February 8 and Spencerport February 10 in their final two regular season games of the season.
