Brockport residents will elect a mayor and two trustees in an election to be held Tuesday, June 19. The seats carry four year terms and are currently held by Mary Ann Thorpe (mayor), James Whipple and Norman Knapp.

Petitions to run for election must be filed with the village clerk by May 5 at 4:30 p.m. Absentee ballot applications must be filed by June 13. Voting will take place between noon and nine p.m. on June 19 at the Village Hall, 49 State Street.

In business from the February 19 village board meeting: Joe Johnston, the new judicial coordinator at SUNY Brockport, introduced himself. The college’s judicial coordinator deals with students who have violated the school’s Code of Conduct. Johnston said that SUNY Brockport is one of the few institutions that is willing to apply its Code of Conduct to incidents that occur off campus.

•The board suspended SPARTAC activities until April 15. SPARTAC – Students, Police and Residents Together Against Crime – provides a foot patrol on weekend nights in troubled neighborhoods as extra "eyes and ears" for the police department. While Police Chief Gary Zimmer is on administrative leave, the police department does not have the supervisory staff needed for the citizens’ patrol, according to Thorpe.

•Trustees approved a contract with the Walker Fire Department to provide dispatch service for a six-month trial period, March 1 – August 30. The charge to Walker will be $600 for the six months service. Brockport also provides dispatch service to the Hamlin Fire Department and Department of Public Works.
