Catholic parishes sponsor March retreat The four parishes in the northwest corner of the Rochester Catholic Diocese, St. Leo, Hilton, St. John the Evangelist, Spencerport, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Brockport, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Hamlin, are sponsoring a parish retreat to be held at St. Leo's. This cooperative effort is responsible for bringing to the diocese two nationally known speakers who have worked together for 17 years offering retreats. Gaynell Cronin, who has 30 years of experience as a Parish Director of Religious Education, is an author of several books for families on Holy Days, the Mass with children, the Eucharist, Reconciliation and prayers for children. Fr. Jack Rathschmidt, a Capuchin Franciscan Friar, is the Chaplain at the College of New Rochelle, NY and was the Provincial of the Capuchins from 1987 to 1993. He and Gaynell have conducted retreats, parish missions, and workshops on family spirituality, have produced more than 40 videos for children and are columnists for Faith Works. Their presentation called Doorways Home: Keeping Hope Alive - Parishes and Families Walking Together is designed for parents, singles, seniors and teens. All are invited to the Masses at St. Leo's on Saturday, March 10, 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 11 at 8 and 10:30 a.m. to hear Gaynell and Fr. Jack speak. The evening sessions take place Sunday through Tuesday at 7 p.m. A reception will follow the Monday and Tuesday evening talks in the Parish Center. On Monday there will be a talk/healing service. Childcare will be provided. Teens are encouraged to attend with their parents. St. Leo Church is handicapped accessible, and is located at 167 Lake Avenue, Route 259, Hilton.
