Melissa B. Fortunato of Rochester has been named to the fall 2000 dean's list at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Fortunato is a Doctor of Pharmacy student.


Michael E. Burel of Colby Street, Spencerport, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2000 semester at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. The biology and chemistry major expects to graduate in May 2001.


Elmira College sophomore Rebecca Houghton, of Hilton, has earned the status of Honor Scholar 2003. Rebecca Houghton performs with the EC Naturals and Orchesis. She is a member of Christian Fellowship, the Big Events Committee, and is an EC Ambassador.

Houghton is preparing for a career in education and holds a Valedictorian Scholarship. She is the daughter of Randall and Lory Houghton and a graduate of Hilton Central High School.

Academic recognitions were made during the college's winter convocation.


Elmira College junior Natalie Cushman, of Hilton, has earned the status of Honor Scholar 2002. Valedictorian Scholar Natalie Cushman earned the Freshman Chemistry Award and majors in Biology-Chemistry. She is the treasurer of the Class of 2002 and a member of EC Naturals.

Cushman is a member of Tri Beta and has been an OL for two years. She is the daughter of Stephen and Lora Cushman and a graduate of Hilton Central High School.

Academic recognitions were made at the college's winter convocation.


Emily Ugino, daughter of Richard and Joan Ugino of Hilton, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2000 semester at Saint Michael's College, located in the Burlington area of Vermont. Ugino is a junior political science major, and a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School.


The following Churchville resident has earned scholarships from Bishop Kearney High School: Leah Knapton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Knapton, received the Bishop Kearney Scholarship based upon high academic performance along with the Brother Clark Alumni Scholarship and the St. John Spencerport Scholarship.


Jacque Lynn Dingee, daughter of Terry and Sue Dingee of Hamlin, has been named to the fall 2000 dean's list at Keuka College. Dingee, a senior, is studying elementary, special education and secondary math education.


Kristen Reisig, of Spencerport, has been named to the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for her academic achievements at SUNY Brockport, where she is a senior. She was one of 16 students thus honored at Brockport this spring.


Susan Bjornholm has become an Assistant district Attorney with the District Attorney of Niagara County. Bjornholm graduated from Bishop Kearney High School, Edinboro University and the University of Buffalo School of Law. She is the daughter of Rick and Kathy Bjornholm of Hilton.


Thomas Bishop received a master of science degree in physical therapy from the Ithaca College Division of Graduate Studies. He previously received his bachelor of science degree from Ithaca College. While an undergraduate, Tom was a principal student clinician on a custodial safety training grant co-sponsored by Ithaca College and the Hazard Abatement Board of the New York State Department of Labor. A dean's list student, he was a member of the varsity men's tennis team and an active participant in the Student Physical Therapy Association. He is a graduate of Brockport High School.


Julie Warmus received a master of science degree in physical therapy from the Ithaca College Division of Graduate Studies. She previously graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College with a bachelor of science degree in clinical science. While an undergraduate, Julie was named an Emerson Scholar and inducted into both the Oracle and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. She was also active with the Student Physical Therapy Association and Aging and Gerontological Education Society. She is a graduate of Gates Chili High School.


Jennifer Gillott earned a master of science degree in physical therapy from the Ithaca College Division of Graduate Studies. She previously received her bachelor's degree in clinical science from Ithaca College. While an undergraduate, the dean's list student was active with the Student Physical Therapy Association. She is a graduate of Spencerport High School.


The following Hilton residents have earned scholarships from Bishop Kearney High School: Cory Maggio, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Gerard Maggio, received the Edmund Rice Scholarship for students who scored in the top 10 percent on the entrance exam. Maggio also received the Br. Clark Alumni Scholarship.

Kimberly Bunker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bunker, received the President's Scholarship for being one of the top scorers on the exam. Bunker also received the Br. Clark Alumni Scholarship, the Edmund Rice Scholarship and the Bromka Scholarship.

Robert Maloney, son of Catherine Steeb, received the Bishop Kearney Scholarship for scoring in the top 15 percent on the entrance exam. Maloney also received the Cardinal Mooney Alumni Scholarship.


Molly DesJardin, a junior in her second year at the University of Pittsburgh College, has received highest honors on the dean's list. She has attained this honor every semester by maintaining an average of 3.98.

DesJardin is majoring in computer science and history with a concentration in Asian studies. She is also employed as a teaching assistant in the computer science department.

She is a 1999 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School.


Rachel Gallagher, daughter of Kevin and Diana Gallagher of Spencerport, has been named to the fall 2000 dean's list at St. John Fisher College. Gallagher, a sophomore, is a history major. She is a 1999 graduate of Spencerport High School.


At a recent breakfast held for employees of the Monroe County Law Department, it was announced that Spencerport resident Patricia A. (Bleier) McNamara has been appointed to the position of Resource Recovery Technician in the Social Services Division of the Monroe County Attorney's office. A county employee for 21 years, McNamara resides in Spencerport with her daughter, Meghan.


Tom Zubert of Re/Max First received the prestigious Zenith Award for sales excellence in 2000 given by the Women's Council of Realtors Rochester Chapter at a breakfast and award ceremony held January 19 at the Marriott Thruway in Henrietta. It is the 13th year he has been so recognized. This award places him in the top one percent of the GRAR sales force. He has helped over 1,300 families achieve their dream of home ownership since 1975.

A Gates resident, he was the Association's president for 1995 and holds many coveted Real Estate professional designations. Tom joined Re/Max in 1990 and is a recipient of the 100% Club Award from Re/Max of New York and is a member of the Re/Max Hall of Fame.


Sandy Blonsky of Re/Max First All Star Team received the WCR Zenith award on January 19. The award is given to agents who participate in over 35 transactions. Blonsky was involved in over 100 transactions in the year 2000.

Blonsky has been marketing homes in the Hilton Parma area for over 16 years and resides in the village of Hilton.


Realtor Paul Crowell of Re/Max First was recently awarded the Zenith Award by the Women's Council of Realtors Rochester Chapter (WCR). This achievement recognizes successful closed sales transactions for the year 2000.

This award places him in the top one percent of the GRAR sales force. Paul joined Re/Max in 1990 and is a recipient of the 100% Club Award from Re/Max of New York and is a member of the Re/Max Hall of Fame.

Paul Crowell is on the Board of Trustees at Roberts Wesleyan College and is active in the community.


Elaine Crowell of Re/Max First has started the year 2000 by qualifying for the coveted Zenith Award, recently awarded by the Women's Council of Realtors Rochester Chapter (WCR) at the Breakfast of Champions.

The Zenith Award, which is a repeat for Elaine, indicates a high volume of productivity for the previous calendar year.

Elaine Crowell is a member of the Hall of Fame of Re/Max International and has consistently won top awards for her real estate service locally, statewide and nationally through Re/Max. She recently obtained the professional designation of CRS.


Art Lettie, an associate broker with the Nothnagle Ogden Chili office, has earned the Top Ten Award for the year 2000. He achieved this award with $3.4 million in sales for the year.


Juanita Hughes was presented with the Top 10 Award in Nothnagle's Ogden-Chili Office in January.


Elenore Arquette has been named the #2 Agent in the Ogden-Chili office of Nothnagle Realtors for the year 2000. She attained a total sales volume of over $4.5 million for the year.


Dennis Morgan has earned the Top Lister of the Month Award for January, at the Ogden/Chili office of Nothnagle Realtors. Morgan is an Associate Broker. He has been a full-time agent since 1995 and a member of the Ogden-Chili Nothnagle Office Top Ten in multi-million dollar sales for the last two years. He represents buyers and sellers of new and existing home sales.


Patrick Hastings has recently been honored with four awards, according to Ogden/Chili Nothnagle office manager, Rob Reimer. He received the Top Sales Agent of the Year Award in Nothnagle's Ogden/Chili office at a luncheon meeting at the Senator's Mansion in Churchville. Hastings was also presented with Nothnagle's Top 25 Award on January 26 at a luncheon held at the Marriott Thruway. He was one of the top 25 realtors in a company of over 500 agents. In addition, Hastings received the Top Lister of the Month for the Ogden/Chili office for December, adding four new listings, and was honored with the Salesperson of the Month for January, with sales over $1 million.

Hastings has been with the company for more than 22 years and has received numerous awards which include Salesmaster Gold in 1998, 1999 and 2000, which is for 60 or more closed transactions in a 12-month period. Nothnagle's Top 25 in 1998 in a company of nearly 500 agents. He has been a Top Office Producer for 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. Hastings served as manager of one of Nothnagle's local offices for five years.

He also served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors for three years and is a Notary Public.


Joan Greeno, Associate Broker of Nothnagle Realtor's Ogden/Chili office, was honored with the Salesperson of the Month award for the month of December 2000, according to Rob Reimer, branch manager.

During her 17 years of service with Nothnagle, Greeno has received numerous other awards and designations including Lister of the Month; the prestigious "Pinnacle Award," awarded by the Rochester Women's Council of Realtors for outstanding commitment and service to customers and clients; Greater Rochester Association of Realtors Sales Master Award; Ogden/Chili's "Top 10 Award" and Nothnagle's coveted "Top 25" award out of 525 agents in the company for each of the last three consecutive years.

A Broker Associate and notary, Greeno primarily works in residential sales, including single and multi-family homes, condominiums, townhomes and investment properties. She also has extensive experience in new home construction and relocation services. She also served as manager of the Ogden/ Chili office during the mid 90s. As an active member of Pearce Memorial Church in North Chili, Joan has served on several committees as well as being a former trustee. She resides in Chili with her husband, Larry, who is vice president for Planned Giving at Roberts Wesleyan College. She has four grown children and seven grandchildren.


Army Pvt. Michael D. Davis has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He is the son of Patrick S. and Gloria A. Davis of Brick Schoolhouse Road, Hamlin.

Davis is a 1998 graduate of Brockport High School.


Army Pvt. Patrick D. Ryan has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

He is the son of Robert E. and Debra R. Ryan of County Line Road, Kendall.

Ryan is a 1998 graduate of Kendall Junior-Senior High School.


Air Force Airman 1st Class Christopher M. Lajuett has graduated from the aerospace maintenance (C-130 aircraft) apprentice course at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. Lajuett is assigned to the 43rd Airlift Wing at Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is the son of Lucinda R. Thomas of Rochester.


Air Force Airman Robert E. Slocum has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force Mission, organization, and customs and received special training in human relations. Slocum is the son of Truda Slocum of Kendall and a 2000 graduate of Kendall Central High School.


Army National Guard Pvt. Tiffani A. Ross has graduated form basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri. During the training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions. Ross is the daughter of Gloria M. Garretson.
