ALBION

•VanOrden, Edith, 92, quietly at the St. Mary's Living Center in Rochester on February 22, 2001. Mrs. VanOrden was the daughter of the late William (Laura Sherbert) Van Orden. She resided in this area for most of her life.

Mrs. VanOrden was predeceased by her husband, Fay VanOrden in 1979. Several nieces, nephews and cousins survive her.

Funeral Services were held February 24 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home. Spring interment will be at Sandy Creek Cemetery. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Eastern Orleans United Way.


BERGEN

•Grosskoft, Isabelle L., At age 94 of Haines City, Florida, formerly of Bergen, on February 23, 2001. She was a retired office manager of Hammer Lithograph in Rochester. Survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Wife of the late Harry Frayling and the late Al Grosskoft; sister of the late Violet Heap.

Services and burial will be in the spring.


CHILI

•Hill, Dr. Norman J., At age 79, of Chili, formerly of Bergen, a Professor Emeritus at SUNY Brockport, died Sunday, February 25, 2001 at home.

Dr. Hill was born April 26, 1921 in Ogden, the son of the late Frank Craig and Rose Pledger Hill.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bergen. He graduated from Churchville High School in 1940, earned his bachelor of science degree in education from Brockport State Teacher's College, his master's in education from the University of Rochester and his doctorate from the University of Buffalo. He taught in the Spencerport, Middleport and Albion school districts and was principal of the Byron-Bergen Schools for two years. He taught at SUNY Brockport for 17 years prior to his retirement in 1981. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church in both Bergen and Albion, sang in the church choir for over 35 years, sang in the Eastman-Rochester Chorus and was a past Village of Bergen trustee. He was a charter member of the Rochester Chess Club.

Dr. Hill is survived by his wife, Marion T. Traber Hill, whom he married April 8, 1950; three sons, Gregory Hill, Nelson (Karen) Hill and Larry (Karlene) Hill, all of Chili; a daughter, Ruth (Thomas) Beattie of Greece; a brother, Walter (Helen) Hill of Wolcott; a sister, Winifred (James) Wheeler of Rochester; a sister-in-law, Penny Hill of Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jason Hill, Matthew Hill, Julie Hill, Kristin Hill and Kimmie Hill all of Chili, Jennifer Pietrzykowski, Rachael Beattie and Erin Beattie all of Greece; and several nieces and nephews.

He is the brother of the late George Hill and Delia Miller.

Services were held Saturday, March 3 at the First Presbyterian Church of Bergen. Burial in Grove Place Cemetery, Chili. •Powers, Alma E., February 21, 2001 at age 87. She was predeceased by her sister, Claudia. She is survived by several cousins and dear friends. She was a retiree of John R. Bourne Office Supply Company.

A Memorial Mass was held February 24 at St. Christopher's Church, North Chili. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to Lifetime Assistance, 425 Paul Road, Rochester 14624 in her memory.


HAMLIN

•Rath, Larry N., February 21, 2001 at age 63. He is survived by his wife, Dianne (Flagler) Rath; his children, Timothy F. Rath, Becky Rath and Robin (Thomas) DeBrita; his sister, Betty (Lloyd) Hugelmaier; his brothers, Richard (Elizabeth), Dale (Ruth) and Neal Rath; seven grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service was held February 25 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hamlin. Spring interment, Lakeside Cemetery. Those wishing can make contributions to the American Diabetes Association or St. John School in his memory.


HILTON

•Judwick, Leon A., February 23, 2001. Predeceased by his daughter, Constance Neale; survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Charlotte; daughters, Dolores White of Hilton and Patricia Fisher of Ontario; ten grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mr. Judwick was a past president of P.A.C., past superintendent of NYS Arson Subdepot.

A Funeral Mass was held February 27 at St. Ann's Chapel. Interment White Haven Memorial Park. Memorials can be directed to the Hilton Volunteer Fire Department, Hilton or Pine of Peace Ridge Road, Ontario.


HOLLEY

•Emerson, Gerald H., Age 87, on February 22, 2001. Survived by wife Clarice; sons, Harrison (Nancy), William (Barbara), Raymond (Susan), David (Diane); daughters, Elizabeth (Darwin) Gemerek, Lynda (Ken Sherman) Emerson; brother, Donald; sister, Helen VanSice; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held March 4 at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc., Holley. Interment in Hillside Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Holley Emergency Squad.


•Monacelli, Agnes M., At age 83, peacefully on February 22, 2001. She is predeceased by her husband, Vincent Sr. and her daughter-in-law, Linda in 2000. She is survived by her children, Frank Monacelli of Hamlin and Vincent Monacelli, Jr. of Rochester; one grandson, Duane (Lisa) Monacelli of Rochester and a granddaughter, Deneen Monacelli of Hamlin and a one sister, Amy Patterson of Medina; several nieces, nephews.

A Funeral Service was held February 26 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Those wishing can make memorial remembrances to the American Cancer Society.


KENDALL

•Mistretta, Joseph F. Jr., Thursday, February 1, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Kirstein-Parkhurst and her husband, Stephen Parkhurst; son, Joseph B. Mistretta and Nancy Weston; daughter, Chrystie Rakvica and her husband, Fred J. Rakvica III; grandchildren, Jillian and James Kirstein, Rachel and Michael Rakvica, Andrea Mistretta, Michelle and Joshua Parkhurst; brothers, Peter (Angie) Mistretta, Manuel Mistretta; sister-in-law, Theresa Mistretta; many loving nieces and nephews; good friends, Angela and Edward Warnick. Joe was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a retiree of Xerox after 33 years of service.

NORTH CHILI

•Robbins, David E., February 23, 2001 at age 77. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vivian Robbins; two daughters, Barbara (Ken) Bates and Jane (Tom) Miner both of Houghton; five grandchildren; his brother, Frank (Ethel) Robbins of Texas; his sister, Lois McCann of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews. He was professor Emeritus of History at Roberts Wesleyan College and was a former Republican Committee Member in the Town of Chili.

A Memorial Service was held February 27 at Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church, North Chili. Interment at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the Memorial Fund of Roberts Wesleyan College, Wycliffe Bible Translators or the Memorial Fund of Houghton College in his memory.


SPENCERPORT

•McGurrin, J. Harper, On February 21, 2001 at age 85. He was predeceased by his wives, Edna (Drown) McGurrin and Emily (Monahan) McGurrin. He is survived by three sons, Gene, Donald and Paul; two daughters-in-law, Marcia and Randie; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Roger Monahan and Dan Casey; his sister-in-law, Irene McGurrin; his step-father, Steve Lenox; several nieces and nephews. He was a retiree of Delco Products and was a member of Etolian Lodge #479 F. & A.M.

A Funeral Service was held February 24 at the Walker Brothers Company Funeral Home, Inc., Spencerport. Interment at the convenience of the family. Contri-butions can be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.


•Rohr, Robert J. Jr., Age 92, of Fort Myers on February 19, 2001. He was a member of the Kraft Masonic Lodge, #943, F.&A.M. for over 70 years. He retired in 1973 as the Director of Engineering after 25 years of service with the Eastman Kodak Company. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Harriett Rohr; son, Robert J. III (Mary) of New Hampshire; daughter, Bonita (Brenon) Caton of Spencerport; four grand-children; seven great grandchildren.
