Kendall choral students perform at national level

Two Kendall students took their singing voices on the road this month. Freshman Kate Lape was selected to perform in the American Choral Directors' Association (ACDA) National Middle School Honor Choir on March 16 in San Antonio, Texas. Senior Steven Miller headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 1 to sing at the Eastern Division Convention of the Music Educators' National Conference.

Lape, the daughter of Craig and Melody Lape of Kendall, was selected by the American Choral Directors' Association from thousands of middle school students from around the country after she sent an audition tape on which she sang "America the Beautiful" a cappella and a classical solo, as well as demonstrated her vocal range. She performed in a chorus of about 250 students during the Association's National Conference March 14-18.

Miller is the son of Sandra Monacelli of Kendall and Richard Miller of Albion. His high score at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival last spring qualified him to sing in the NYSSMA Conference All State Chorus last November in Rochester. This high ranking gave him an invitation to sing in the Music Educators' National Conference (MENC) Eastern Division High School Honor Choir, which was comprised of about 185 students from 11 states across the northeast.
