Byron-Bergen to celebrate 50 years of centralization

This year marks the 50th anniversary celebration of the Byron-Bergen School District centralization. The Alumni Association will join with the 50th Anniversary committee in a special celebration at the high school on Saturday, May 19. All past and present school and community members are invited to join in the celebration.

Byron-Bergen Sports Boosters are sponsoring a "School Logo Contest" that any present or past student, employee or associate of Byron-Bergen Central School or resident of the district can enter. The winning design will become the official logo of the school and will be painted on the center of high school gymnasium floor over the summer. Entries must be hand-drawn, include a "bee" in the design, and be received in the district office by May 4. Sports Boosters and a staff member will provide prizes: first place, $100; second place, $50; third place, $25.

The 50th Anniversary program will begin at 5 p.m. with tours of the school. At 6 p.m., a catered buffet dinner will be served for $10 per person. After dinner, there will be guest speakers, entertainment and the announcement of the winner of the School Logo Contest.
