C-C students compete in State Math League Finals

Four Churchville-Chili students will be at the New York State Math League finals on March 31. Andrew Meyers, a senior, was selected for the Monroe County A Team and Rebecca Sillick, a junior, for the B Team. Matt George, a sophomore, and Kathryn Knowles, a freshman, are alternates for the finals, which take place at Manhasset High School on Long Island. The students were among 1,300 Monroe County students competing at Math League meets throughout the year.

C-C math teacher Doug Becker has been selected as a coach for this year's state meet. His selection was based on the C-C team's designation as the most improved team in Monroe County.

Overall this year, the C-C Math League team finished in fifth place. The team tied for third in the All Star meet. At that meet, Andrew Meyers, Jenny Baker, Jenna Coriddi and Kathryn Knowles each had perfect scores on the individual questions. Robbie Calvette, Kristin Gardner, Shelly Kasiske, Kevin Laley and Bill Rowe each answered seven of the eight individual questions correctly. Kathryn Knowles finished as the second highest rated freshman in the county. Robbie Calvette finished as the highest rated eighth-grader in the county.
