Gates-Chili Council recognizes community excellence

Community awards celebration slated for April 26

The Gates-Chili Council of the Greater Rochester Metro Chamber of Commerce will be having their Annual Community Awards Program on April 26. This will be the 16th year that the Council honors local organizations that have significantly impacted the quality of life in the Gates-Chili area for enhancing the environment or otherwise promoting economic development.

One Step Tree and Lawn Care will be awarded the "Chili Beautification Award" for their significant investment in the community and for beautifying local landscapes; and Benderson Development Corporation the "Gates Beautification Award" for the outstanding development of the Westgate Park on Howard Road.

The "Innovative Business Award," designed to recognize a recent addition to the business community, will be awarded to Jitters Café on Buffalo Road. The "Joseph Entress Memorial Award," acknowledging economic development, will be presented to Cornerstone Group.

The "Culture and Arts Award" will be presented to the Roberts Wesleyan College Community Orchestra who has contributed, encouraged, and enhanced the quality of life for the westside. The "Public Service Awards" will be presented to Alan Odorczyk, a Gates firefighter, and the Chili Lions Club for their contribution in the betterment of the Gates-Chili Community through programs and activities.

The 16th Annual Community Awards program will be held at the Party House, 677 Beahan Road from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Reservations are $22.50 or $200 for a table of ten. For reservations or for information call Michelle Vercruysse at the Council at 263-3678.
