Hamlin Republicans choose slate

The Hamlin Republican Committee at a special meeting held on April 10, selected their slate of candidates for the November 2001 election. Austin F. Warner, III will be seeking re-election to the position of town supervisor which he has held for one two-year term. Paul S. Rath received the endorsement for another four-year term as councilperson. David G. Rose, who was not seeking re-election as highway superintendent, expressed the desire instead to run for town board and received the committee’s support over incumbent Shirley Hollink.

Running for the first time for the position being vacated by retiring Judge Gordon Wright will be Richard Moffett, retired sergeant from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, for Hamlin Town Justice. Thomas Ingraham will be seeking his first political office by running for highway superintendent. Ingraham has been Deputy Highway Superintendent for many years and while new to the political scene, brings with him years of experience, according to committee members.

The Republican Committee will be hosting a Spring Brunch at the Evergreen Restaurant, Lake Road, Hamlin on Sunday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This brunch is a kick off for the upcoming fall election, and an opportunity for residents to meet the candidates and speak to them on a variety of subjects. Tickets are $10 a person and can be purchased from any committee person or at the door. The committee is also accepting donations from those who can not attend but who wish to offer some form of financial support.

For information on the brunch, call Chairman Howard Hueser at 964-3674.
