Robot to be on display April 25

A team of C-C technology students has returned from Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center in Florida after competing for the national championship at the 2001 FIRST Robotics national competition April 5-7.

GRR (Greater Rochester Robotics), the Churchville-Chili/Nortel Networks team, was part of an alliance that competed for the national championship. The team was a quarterfinal runner-up, after losing in the semi-finals.

The team, which includes C-C high school students and Nortel Networks engineers, went to the national competition after earning two awards in the regional competition on Long Island. The students on the team are: Kathy Becker, Suzie Becker, Caralyn Camarata, DJ Dingeldine, Chris Feiock, Jim Flagg, Chris George, Matt George, Phil Gurbacki, Dave Hartung, Adam Kessler, Evan Kristiansen, Matt Kurzen, Dan Mackey, Jennifer Mallory, Tim Mathews, Matt Penepant, Erin Salisbury, Josh Sarazyn, Sean Schaeffer, Justin Stabb, Eric Valentine and Kelly Wirpsa.

The GRR robot will be on display April 25, from 7 to 9 at the C-C Project Lead The Way Open House at Churchville-Chili High School.
