Tait Loe, a five year veteran technology teacher at Hilton High School, received the Western Region Technology Teacher of the Year Award last month at the annual N.Y.S. Technology Education Conference held at the Sagamore Inn in Lake George.

Over 20 Monroe County technology teachers were on hand to help Loe celebrate his honor including HHS teacher Ron Hindmarch and Brad Helmer.

Loe was honored for his efforts to revitalize the Monroe County Technology Education Association during the past three years. He also coordinates the Monroe County Technology Exhibit held annually at the Greece Ridge Center. The exhibit is designed to showcase Monroe County Technology students' work. This year's exhibit will be held from May 7-May 13 at the Greece Ridge Center.

Loe's students annually enter their work both in this local exhibit and in the National Gutenberg Awards program. His students annually win awards at the local and national level. Loe is one of the reasons the Hilton Technology program was recognized by a national association in 1999, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, for having the best Graphic Communications program in the United States.

Loe and Hindmarch were also asked to present their innovative assessment system at this year's state conference, as well as at the Fall Conference at Oswego State University this past October. "Mr. Loe is a fine example of the dedication and drive that Hilton's Technology teachers possess," said Hindmarch.
