Rangers get late offense to win

The Spencerport Rangers scored four runs in their last two plate appearances to defeat Greece Olympia 5-1 April 12 in boys baseball. With Olympia ahead 1-0, Shannon Brinson reached on an infield single in the third inning, took second on an error, third on a fielder's choice and scored on a single to right by Rich Pozzuolo to tie the game.

Brinson hit a solo home run to right field in the fifth inning to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead. Pozzuolo made it 3-1 with his own solo home run and Tom Ernisse knocked in two runs with a double in the sixth inning to seal the win. Gil Burgmaster pitched a complete game three-hitter for Spencerport with six strikeouts.

Ranger head coach Charlie Breehl after the game said, "This is only our third time on the field all season with the bad weather we've had. It just took a little longer today for the bats to catch up with the pitchers. These guys kept at it and finally scored a few late in the game."
