Annual Armed Forces Day luncheon set

The New York Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and Monroe County Veterans Organizations will sponsor the annual Armed Forces Day Luncheon on May 17. The luncheon will be held in the New York Army National Guard Armory at 250 Weidner Road.

This day has been set aside to honor the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, in America's Armed Forces. Each year a different branch of the Armed Forces hosts the Monroe County luncheon. This year's luncheon is hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The guest speakers this year will be Captain Gregory S. Cole, Chief of Staff, 9th Coast Guard District and Michael Naylon, Executive Director, National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

There will be numerous static displays which will include military aircraft and equipment. These displays will be open for viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. From 11:30 to 12 noon there will be wine sampling and assembling in the banquet hall. The luncheon will be from 12 noon to 1:30 and the guest speakers will address the assembly after that. Following the luncheon there will be additional viewing of the displays.

The West Irondequoit High School Band will provide pre-luncheon music.
