Western Monroe scout leaders honored

At the monthly Roundtable of Northern Lights District Scout Leaders, held at the Spencerport High School on May 2, announcement was made by Awards Committee Chairman Richard Barclay of our 2001 recipients of the District Award of Merit. This award recognizes outstanding leadership of youth in western Monroe County Scouting units.

Honorees include Mark Arlauckas of Scottsville, Sally Capurso of Churchville, James Roth of Greece, and Robert Geiger of Brockport. Presentation of their awards will take place at the Otetiana Council, BSA annual meeting and recognition dinner on May 14.

Other leaders also recognized at the Roundtable included Cub Scout Leader of the Year Tom Ryan of St. Pius Catholic Church Pack 178, Boy Scout Leader of the Year J. Allen Hellaby of Scottsville American Legion Troop 140, and Commissioners of the Year Valerie Kalwas of Gates and James Roth.

The Northern Lights District includes all of the towns of western Monroe County and the northwestern portion of Rochester, with a membership of over 4,000 boys.
