C.C.H.S. Spring Concert last for long-time conductor

On Thursday, May 17, the Churchville-Chili Senior High School Choirs will present their annual Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Senior High School auditorium. The concert will open with "A Tribute to A Chorus Line, the Musical," performed by The "Singing Saints" Show Choir.

Also performing will be the Senior High Chorus, with soloists Melanie McMahon and Darrell Mahle in Raymond Hannisian's "Movin' On," as well as various other American traditional and spiritual songs. The Women's Chorus will perform the beautiful "Cape Breton Lullaby," while the Men's Chorus, with soloist Eric Traugott, will stage "You've Gotta Have Heart" from the Musical, Damn Yankees.

The Concert Choir will feature soloists Jessica Best and Geordie Alexander in the Czecho-Slovak folksong, "Waters Ripple and Flow" as well as William Dawson's arrangement of the American spiritual "Ezekiel Saw de Wheel," with soloist Andrew Meyers. All Choirs will combine for performances of the Swahili praise to God, "O Sifuni Mungu" with solos by A.J. Simms, Lisa Goolsby and Ryan Thomas; Joseph Martin's tribute to the importance of Music, "The Awakening" and Harvey Ender's colorful ode to spring "Russian Picnic."

In tribute to retiring Choral Conductor Rob Goodling, the concert will conclude with past C.C.H.S. Choral alumni joining the Combined Choirs in a performance of Peter Wilhousky's arrangement of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Choral alumni interested in participating in this tribute are asked to notify the Vocal Music Office at 293-1800 extension 3090 and attend a pre-concert rehearsal at 7 p.m. in Gym B. The concert is free of charge and will be followed with a reception presented by the Music Booster Club parents.
