Byron-Bergen Scout competes in New York City

Albert Donovan, a senior at Byron-Bergen High School and a student at the Genesee Valley BOCES in Batavia, competed in the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association Competition in New York City over Easter vacation. He and partner, Adam Rayner of Attica, competed against 40 other teams from around the United States, Canada and Germany. They took fifth place in the nation, winning tools and scholarship money. The two students represented the Greater Rochester Area Dealers Association and were instructed by Jeff Wachholder from BOCES in Batavia.

Upon returning from the competition, Donovan received his Eagle Scout Rank from Troop 133, sponsored by the Churchville Lions Club. Donovan started attending scouting events when he was three years old because his older brothers were in scouts and his parents were the leaders. His Eagle project was painting the parish center and classrooms at St. Brigid Church in Bergen. Donovan has been accepted at the Wellsville Campus of Alfred Technical College.
