Churchville-Chili residents approve budget

Churchville-Chili residents voted in favor of the district's $49,009,605 budget by a nearly two-to-one margin on May 15. The vote tally was 761 in favor, 395 against.

The two other propositions also passed. Residents voted for the bus proposition, authorizing the district to purchase nine school buses, by a vote of 740 to 328. Voters also supported the third proposition authorizing the district to establish a capital reserve fund. The new fund will not require additional money. It will be funded over time if money is available at the end of the year or if the district receives unanticipated revenue. The fund will be used to maintain and support the district's physical plant and property. Money from the fund can only be used with voter ap-proval except in an emergency. Residents voted 748 to 379 in favor of this proposition.

Residents elected three of the four board candidates to three-year terms. Incumbent Kathleen Dillon received 805 votes. Mark Hill received 778 votes and incumbent Nancy Barron, 695 votes.
