The 2001 Garlic Farm Tour will take place on Saturday, June 2. The tour will begin with registration from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Fraser's Garlic Farm, 1379 Johnson Road, Churchville. Coffee and pastries will be served. Attendees will visit four additional farms: John Spamer Garlic Farm, The Skoog Farm, Mele Farms and Piedmonte's Garlic Farm. Each of the five farms on the tour will offer brief informational sessions about different varieties; growing techniques; methods for harvesting; types of equipment and marketing. You will see garlic being grown in the fields under different conditions.

A fee of $5 per person will be collected in order to cover costs. People are asked to dress appropriately for the weather as the tour will take place rain or shine. Visitors will go first to three of the farms and then to the Firemen's Grounds in Holley, for lunch. Participants are asked to bring their own meal. Refreshments and treats will be provided by the hosts. During lunch, food products made or grown by other New York state farms will be featured. Doc and Katie Abraham from the Green Thumb radio program plan to attend and say a few words about growing great garlic. After lunch, the group will tour Mele Farms, well known for their beautiful hardneck braids and Piedmonte's with over 21 acres of garlic under production. The tour is expected to end by 3 p.m.

Make reservations by calling Ed Fraser at (716) 494-2679 or e-mail your full name, mailing address and phone number to frasergarlic@usadatanet.net. A confirmation will be sent by mail or via the internet.
