Project SAVE safety plan presented in Spencerport

Spencerport School District residents are invited to attend an informational meeting about Project SAVE, a new law intended to ensure safety in the state's schools. Project SAVE (Safe Schools Against Violence in Education) is a law requiring all school boards in the state to adopt a comprehensive school safety plan for the district and each individual building within the district. The charge also included addressing the district's code of conduct to help ensure a safe school culture.

A special committee of administrators, teachers, local emergency personnel and community residents has been meeting to amend the Spencerport School District's current emergency preparation plan to comply with the new state requirements.

District residents can learn about the plan at a special meeting on Tuesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. immediately preceding the regularly scheduled school board meeting. The Project SAVE public hearing will take place in rooms 15 and 17 in the Administration Building, 71 Lyell Avenue.
