for Phase II at Brockport playground

Last July, volunteers from Brockport and neighboring areas built the first phase of a playground at the corner of Utica and Holley Streets. For the past year, children have been enjoying this playground, which is handicapped-accessible, by climbing to the small tower, accepting the disc challenge, and riding the stationery cycler. They have been playing on the swings, the roller slide, and the spring rider, and have spent countless hours exploring the play panels. Phase I was designed mainly to meet the play needs of the smaller children.

Construction for Phase II, designed for children five to twelve years old, will take place on Saturday, July 7. Phase II of the structure will extend the accessible deck area with the addition of a clatter bridge. From there, kids will be able to climb to the tallest tower on the playground to a large slidewinder slide, cliff climber and fire pole. A jungle gym area that includes a ring bridge, air dancer, horizontal ladder, swing-out, fishnet climber and an 18 foot long track ride will also be part of this second phase. Swings will be placed at the rear of the play area.

Those interested in helping should call 637-5300 (daytime) or 637-5648. Refreshments will be provided.
