AREA

•High, Michael E., His parents, Mary and Evan High, deceased. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary High; sister, Wendy Jacabsen; nieces, Rachel and Faith; nephew, Aaron; daughter, Michelle VanOrman; grandson, Kyle; son, Michael High Jr.; Gary and Krista Radford; granddaughter, Emily, Kevin Radford, Kurt Radford and Joanne Radford.

Funeral Services were held May 14 at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc. Brockport. Those wishing can make contributions to the American Heart Association in his memory.


•Pickett, John R. (Jack), 73, on April 21, 2001 at his son's home after a lengthy illness. He was born October 19, 1927 in Albion, the son of the late Arnold and Gladys Richardson Pickett. His wife, Joyce Allen Pickett preceded him in death. Mr. Pickett was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy as a Seabee. He was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron, serving as the Commander of the Oak Orchard Power Squadron, as well as several other positions. He was also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving as Commander of Flotilla 3-9. Mr. Pickett worked most of his life as a sales manager for Marquart's Furniture and Appliance and later as an instructor at the Orleans County Correctional Facility. After retiring he and his wife, Joyce, moved to Bradenton, Florida. There they enjoyed golf, boating, shuffleboard and good fellowship.

Mr. Pickett is survived by two sons, John A. Pickett Sr. of Cambridge, Maryland and Jarrold A. Pickett of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters-in-law, Vickie Lynn Pickett of Cambridge, Maryland and Sonya Lee Pickett of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, John A. Pickett Jr. and Russell E. Pickett of Cambridge, Maryland and Keanna Joyce Lee Pickett of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother-in-law, Theodore Schoonover, and a niece, Renee Colonna, both of Albion and a nephew, Michael Schoonover, of Arlington Heights, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Schoonover of Albion.

A Memorial Service was held May 19 at Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Albion.


BROCKPORT

•Wienchowski, Charlotte E., On May 9, 2001. She is survived by her son, William (Bonnie) Zechmann of Bloomfield; one granddaughter, Michelle Zechmann; her brothers, Frank and Herbert Zechmann; her sister, Hermine Wilber; several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held May 12 at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Interment Lake View Cemetery. Friends wishing can make contributions to the Bloomfield Public Library, 9 Church Street, East Bloomfield 14443.

•Neal, Virginia D., May 8, 2001. Survived by her husband, Kirk M. Neal; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Michelle Neal; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Greg Miller; her brother, Raymond Doyle; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

•Skvarek, Lynn A. (DiGioia), May 11, 2001. Survived by her beloved husband, Stephen J. Skvarek; son, Nicholas Skvarek; mother, Isabelle DiGioia; brother, Anthony DiGioia; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna and Steve Skvarek; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts and uncles.

A Funeral Mass was held May 14 at St. Pius the Tenth Church. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.


CHURCHVILLE

•McAvoy, Laura L., On May 3, 2001 at age 88. She is predeceased by her husband, Leo, and daughter, Marge Sherwood. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Houser, Kathryn (Thomas) Magin; son, Michael; niece, Marie Potter; sister, Freida Busack; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will not be a funeral at her request. Contributions can be made to the Greenpeace Organization.


HAMLIN

•Batty, Caroline L. "Kel," Suddenly, May 9, 2001 at age 73. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Vincent and Velma Batty; her nieces and nephew, Donna (Ronald) Ophardt, Diane (Bruce) Osterhoot and Carl (Patricia) Batty; several great nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a Xerox retiree.

•Slater, Kenneth G. "Stretch," May 12, 2001 at age 71. He is survived by his wife, Anna (Wolf) Slater; his son, Greg (Shirley) Slater; daughter, Laurie (Mark) Callahan; four grandchildren, Ryan and Jeff Slater, Zac and Megan Callahan; two sisters, Janet (Keith) Roe and Eleanor (Gene) Zilinski; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

•Keifer, Marion L. (Congdon), At age 70 on May 10, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Harry Wright of Albion; daughter, Rosalie Keifer of Oakfield; brother, Fred (Phyllis) Congdon of Albion; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

•Clow, Alida M., At age 83 suddenly May 15, 2001. Survived by husband, Frank; son, Robert (Pat) Clow of North Carolina; and brother, Thomas Clumm; also many nieces and nephews.

•Cliff, C. Winifred "Winnie," May 11, 2001 at 85 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Cliff and her two sons, Charles E. "Gus" Cliff and Chris C. Cliff. She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Sauter (Tom Doran), Catherine Bopp (Bill Gerhardt) and Carrie Cliff (Steve Orman); her two sisters, Elsie Ziegler and Sarah Webster; her brother-in-law, Bernard Cliff (Evie Bronson); her sisters-in-law, Margaret Brower, Lois Covington, Helen Cliff and Vinnie Cliff; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and many special friends.
