Hilton appoints new principal for the Quest Elementary School

Lydia McCabe, currently principal of Greece Central School District's Parkland-Brookside Elementary School (two schools Pre-K-2 and 3-5) was appointed to the principalship of the Quest Elementary School by the Hilton Board of Education May 8. McCabe will assume the position July 1, 2001 following the retirement of Anita Clark, Quest's principal.

McCabe has been a principal in Greece for 14 years and has been instrumental in developing the "Signature School for Math, Science and Technology" at Parkland-Brookside which employs a 'school of choice' application process for 75 students drawn from the Greece district. The Math, Science, Technology focus meets NYS Learning Standards through a variety of integrated, inquiry-based experiences in a technology-rich environment.

McCabe is an Ed.D. candidate in Educational Administration at the University of Rochester and holds a M.Ed. from the University of Virginia. She is a native of Virginia and now lives in Pittsford with her husband, Jack, who is Associate Superintendent for Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES and their two children, Sarah, 17, and Jon, 15.

"I look forward to getting to know Quest School people," she said. "Hilton has an excellent reputation. I have always been interested in a K-5 or K-6 setting. I am also interested in taking on a new challenge. I have been a building principal for 21 years and I bring experience from many settings. I enjoy bringing people together with a common focus, a common direction.

McCabe is also a marathon runner, having just competed and qualified to run again in the Boston Marathon with a time of 3:49. She is a member of the Oven Door Runners Club in Pittsford.
