Senior Sheila Devine began first round action in the Section Five softball playoffs by tossing a perfect game in Brockport's 5-0 win over Greece Olympia May 22. "I was just thinking - let me get these last three outs," said Devine about the last inning. She completed her first-ever perfect game with three straight come-backers to the mound in the seventh inning.

The Blue Devils got all the runs they would need in the third inning. With two outs, seniors Amanda Thompson and Katie Schweinfurth singled before Ellen Caruso homered over the center fielder's head for a three-run homer. Two innings later, Thompson and Schweinfurth again were on base and scored on Devine's double to the opposite field.

Head coach Curt Johnson talked about his pitcher, "I kept looking at my line-up card to make sure no one was on base. It was easier on her pitching with the lead since we haven't been scoring a lot of runs lately." Devine struck out eight batters including striking out the side in the fourth inning in registering her second no-hitter of the season. The closest Olympia came to getting on base was a ball hit up the middle off the pitcher's glove which deflected to the second baseman in the third inning and a fly ball in the sixth inning that left fielder Lisa Taber made a leaping catch on.

Brockport, now 13-8 and seeded seventh for the playoffs, advanced to the second round to play Irondequoit.
