Plan for summer fun at Hilton-Parma Recreation

Hilton-Parma Recreation's 2001 Summer Program Brochure is jam-packed with great activities, events, and camps for the entire family.

For preschoolers there's Horseback Riding at Manitou Hills Farms. These half-hour, weekly lessons run from August 7-28 and cost $45. Tiny Tot Swim will be offered at Merton Williams Middle School Pool throughout the summer; the cost is $20 for 10 classes. Tot Playground gives children the opportunity to interact with other children their age and learn to take instruction in a fun atmosphere. Tots take part in activities like arts and crafts, games, and walking field trips. This program runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for children entering kindergarten and first grade at $50; and Tuesdays and Thursdays for preschoolers aged three-and-a-half through four years for $40. Both playgrounds will meet from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at West Avenue School.

Youth Playground provides second through sixth graders with 30 hours of high-quality recreation time for $21 per week. Activities include games, arts and crafts, swimming, and field trips to local attractions. The Playground is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Extended hours are available to families that have conflicting schedules. The Before and After Resource Program costs $30 per week.

A new playground program will be offered to seventh and eighth graders at the Parma Town Park. Registration deadline is June 13. For planning purposes, this program may be altered to fit the needs of the participants. All playgrounds run from June 25 to August 10 with no activities the week of July 2-6.

The Parma Summer Celebration on Saturday, August 4, will feature a craft show, great food, fun activities, The Blues Family Band and a fireworks display.

Over a dozen sports camps are being provided by Hilton and Monroe County Varsity and J.V. Coaches including soccer, cheerleading, horseback riding, football, baseball and tennis.
