A meet-the-candidates night, moderated by the League of Women Voters, won't be attended by any of the challengers in the Village of Brockport's upcoming election.

The candidates' forum will be held June 14 from 7-9 p.m. in the large group instruction room at the Oliver Middle School. Incumbents Mary Ann Thorpe, Norm Knapp and Jim Whipple will attend.

Candidates Josephine Matela, Norm GianCursio, John Bush, Jeffrey Black and Hector Roman say they will not attend the event because they were not consulted about the date. Some of the challengers have previously scheduled appointments for that evening. They hope to have statements read to the audience by the moderator.
