The Evangelical Alliance, and local churches in Tirana Albania have invited Bergen First Presbyterian Church to participate in the "Tenth Anniversary of the Reopening of Albania to Religious Freedom Celebration." Bergen First Presbyterian Church is one of the 73 churches that are part of the Presbytery of Genesee Valley and the only Presbyterian Church (USA) church to partake in this celebration.

In July of 1999 the church sent a team to assist Kosovo refugees in Albania by providing humanitarian aid at refugee locations in southern Albania. This time a team of six congregational members will participate in the trip.

Lenscrafters has provided the Bergen Presbyterians with over 3,000 reading glasses as humanitarian aid to those in need. The elderly, who receive a retirement pension of only $26 a month, cannot afford $10 for reading glasses.

The church group will be leaving June 29 and will be staying until July 15 in Albania. The cost of the trip for each person is $1,580 or $9,480 total for the team of six members. Contributions can be sent to Bergen First Presbyterian Church, 38 South Lake Avenue, P.O. Box 206, Bergen 14416-0206.
