Spencerport teams qualify for scholar awards

Four of six Spencerport spring athletic teams qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award during the spring 2000-01 season. In order to qualify, a team must have a team grade point average of 90 percent or above. The teams that qualified were:

Girls Track and Field coached by Paul Sikorski; Boys Track and Field coached by Eric Runion; Girls Softball coached by Deb Milner; and Boys Tennis coached by Jody Wyant.

The student-athletes who qualified for Girls Track and Field are: Tony Burek, Sarah Deegan, Patricia Johnson, Carla Longobardi, Jennifer MacMullen, Emily Mahns, Andrea Maluta, Carolyn McCormick, Meghan Olney, Karen Paladino, Alicia Stadtmiller, Stephanie Tandy, Stefanie Tornow, Laura Uschold, Mary Ellen Uschold, Shaunna Verhey.

Qualifying for Boys Track and Field are: Daniel Burnett, Shawn Calabrese, David Czora, Alexis Felix, Robert Fenity, Christopher Hart, David Hossenlopp, Nathaniel Lowe, Daniel Ollies, Christopher Page, Benjamin Plucknette, Timothy Smallidge, Benjamin VanScoter.

The student-athletes who qualified for Softball are: Elizabeth Duval, Meghan Gollaher, Carrie Kazmierski, Danielle Powers, Candice Rockell, Regina SanFilipo, Kristina Schweikert, Melissa Scroger, Amy Skinner, Melissa Sullivan, Meghan Weinpress.

Qualifying for Boys Tennis are: Richard Albano, Keith Comperatore, Joshua DeRuyter, Kenneth Frisch, Chris Harisis, Tyler MacDuffie, Vinh Nguyen, Thaddeus Rivaldo, Michael Somers.

For the 2000-01 school year Spencerport had 17 of its 24 varsity teams qualified for this award.
