Family gun event puts emphasis on safety

The Holley Rod & Gun Club, in conjunction with the National Rifle Association, is holding a Family Fun Shooting Event, Saturday, June 30, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the club's grounds on Pumping Station Road.

This event gives the entire family an opportunity to enjoy the shooting sports together in a safe, structured, hands-on learning experience that is under the direction and supervision of experienced shooters and instructors. There are activities for everyone, whether young or old, an experienced shooter or not, a participant or simply an observer.

These activities include: shotgun, muzzleloaders, .22 rifle, archery and BB rifles. There will also be demonstrations by cowboy shooters and the N.Y.S. Department of Environmental Conservation's Robo-deer. First aid and firearm safety education information will also be presented. Light lunches will be available.

Those under 21 need to bring proof of age and everyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
