Racers Taking the Green for the Ronald McDonald House
Racers Taking the Green for the Ronald McDonald House

On Sunday, April 22, a fundraiser was held for the Ronald McDonald House at the Bergen Fire Hall on Route 19 in Bergen. Over 50 local race teams participated in the event and raised over $6,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester. This was the second annual event and the money raised this year was triple the amount from the first year.

On Saturday, June 30, a check will be presented to Bonnie Vahey, executive director for the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester. The presentation will take place at the Genesee County Fairgrounds, Genesee Speedway during the weekly DIRT track races, between 8:30 and 9 p.m. that evening. The drivers will also be making a financial challenge with the fans and collecting donations in the stands. These donations will be split between the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester and Buffalo.

Plans are already underway for the third Racers Taking the Green. The event will take place on April 21, 2002 at the Bergen Fire Hall. For information contact Ed Vargo at 594-9854.
