Seymour Library announces first artist in residence

The Seymour Library Board of Trustees has chosen local artist Jappie King Black to be the first Artist in Residence. She will be creating a sculpture on the library side lawn.

The sculpture will be made of natural materials, mainly wood and grapevine, collected from the surrounding area. Other plants and materials will be donated by local gardeners and the Brockport Garden Club.

Black will work on the sculpture at the library on the side lawn and will interact with the community as an Artist in Residence. After the structure is completed, vines will be planted to grow into the sculpture.

The community is invited to visit the sculpture location at the library, to participate in planting seeds and maintaining the surrounding area.

For information visit the Seymour Library at 161 East Avenue, Brockport or call 637-1050.
