Summer fun begins at the Newman Riga Library Monday, July 2. "Hit the Books" reading program sponsored by the Buffalo Bills and UPS kicks off for children in grade levels 2 through 12. For every book read during the month of July, the participant will be allowed to fill out a scorecard and deposit it at the library for a chance to win a ticket to the Buffalo Bills-Seattle Seahawks game in Buffalo.

The Yellow Submarine Reading Adventure will start on Monday, July 9. Preschoolers have an independent log sheet which they can pick up and complete. Participants between the ages of 6-12 can play the game at the library on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. An independent reading program is available for young adults between the ages of 12-18.

In addition to the reading programs, the library is also sponsoring weekly entertainment specials. Channel 10 meteorologist, Rich Caniglia, will present a program about weather on Tuesday, July 10 at 3 p.m. A musical program by Don Laird will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 3 p.m. The Zoomobile will bring many animals to the library on Tuesday, July 24, at 3 p.m. Participation in bubble blowing, sand art, stamping and other outdoor fun will be held on the library grounds on Thursday, August 2 at 10 a.m. Wrapping up August 9, a Bagel Bash will also be a time for the prize drawings to be held.
