The Town of Sweden has granted a permit to SBA, Inc. to construct a 100 foot tall telecommunications tower at 441 Sweden Ogden Townline Road on property owned by Paul Robinson. Cingular Wireless will be the main tenant on the lattice work tower, although SBA intends to recruit other users.

In other business from the June 26 town board meeting: A public hearing was set for July 24 at 7:15 p.m. regarding the request of David Paul to rezone prop-erty on the south side of Brockport Spencerport Road from residential (R-2) to business (B-1) and light industrial (I-2). Paul’s plans include the construction of a private residence, rental property, a storage building for vehicles and a professional building.

A public hearing on the proposal was already held, however the board granted a new hearing based on language changes in the original application.

The board authorized an environmental study of land being donated to the town by Iroquois Rock.

The board authorized Highway Superintendent Craig Smith to prepare bid specifications for the construction of a water main, irrigation system, and blasting of a pond in the Sweden Town Park on Redman Road. Earlier this year, the town board approved the expenditure of up to one million dollars for the development of the first phases of the park master plan.

An extension to the Sweden consoli-dated water district along White Road was approved. The cost of the project is not to exceed $50,000. The Sweden Highway Department will also install approximately 11,700 feet of water main on Jackson Road in Clarendon and White Road in Sweden to provide water to Clarendon residents.
